1952-1989
Donald was a very trusting and loving soul.
No matter how many times those he chose to
call his "friend" betrayed him, he refused
to see the dark side of their nature, and
was always forgiving. He was a true
Christian in every sence of the word.
All he ever wanted out of life was to love
and be loved in return.
I remember the night we celebrated his
long recovery from his near fatal accident.
He was so excited when he heard the band's
leader announce:
"This one's for Don from his 'big sis'. He
almost bought the farm! Welcome back man!
Live long and prosper!"
A tear came to my eye as I watched him
dance to "I Believe".
With his child like wonder and enthusiasm,
he ran back to me
saying: "I never had anyone dedicate a
song to me before! What am I suposed to
do now?"
"Live long and prosper Don! Just,
live long and prosper!"
Little did either one of us know at the
time that this was not to be, and within
three short years he'd be gone.
I was only seven when Donald entered this
world, but even then I somehow knew that
he was a little lost lamb, and I his guardian angel. Oh how I tried to guide and
protect him from harm.
All too soon I learned that God has His plan
and there is nothing mortal man can do to
alter the course He has laid out for each
and every one of us.
I was given his Bible as a rememberance of
him. As I read the scriptures he had
underlined, I noticed, when arranged in a
certain order, they formed a prayer.
Also, tucked in the back of his Bible, was
a song he had written after learning of his
terminal illness. I know he intended it
to be shared with others.
What a better tribute to his memory than
to share his "song" and "prayer" with those
who seek the comfort and peace that it
brought him during his final days.
Don, I will be your voice. I will spread
your message for you. You are not forgotten
and your life did matter! I miss you, and
pray that one day we will be reunited.
DONALD'S SONG
TO THE CIRCUS LITTLE CHILD,
YOU ARE BORN!
YOU ARE FREE TO TRAVEL.
YOU ARE FREE TO ROME.
COME ALONG, SING A SONG!
BRING A FRIEND OR TWO.
COME ALONG, SING A SONG!
BUT DON'T BE ANYONE'S FOOL.
THERE ARE RULES IN THE CIRCUS
THAT YOU MUST PROTECT.
THERE ARE RULES IN THE CIRCUS,
IF YOU BRAKE THEM, YOU'LL REGRET.
IF YOU BRAKE A RULE IN THE CIRCUS,
IT'S NOT AN INSTANT DEATH.
EVEN THOUGH YOUR DAYS ARE NUMBERED,
YOU SLOWLY GO ON TILL YOUR LAST BREATH.
FAREWELL TO THE CIRCUS LITTLE CHILD
HOW ARE YOU?
DID YOU LIVE LONG AND PROSPER?
OR DID YOU BRAKE ALL THE RULES?
DONALD'S PRAYER

As a child, My favorite bed time story was
"Jesus Understood".
It told about a young
boy named Johnny who was gravely ill
in a hospital ward. The boy in the bed
next to him told him that every night
Jesus would walk through the ward and
would take anyone who wanted to go
'home' with Him. All he had to do was
to hold his hand up high for Jesus
to see.
But Jonny was too
weak to raise his hand, and feared
Jesus would pass him by.
That night, his friend proped up Jonny's arm
with pillows for him in hopes that Jesus would
see it when he passed through the ward.
In the morning, Johnny's hand was still
raised high, but he had passed.
Jesus understood.
Donalds last word, before he passed, was
"Jesus". I know with every fiber in my
being, that Donald is at peace with his
heavenly father, and free from the torment
that filled his earthly days.
I shared a special bond with Donald. Although
I couldn't be by his side or hold his hand
up for him for Jesus to see, God, in his mysterious wisdom, allowed me to be with him,
in spirit.
At the exact moment Donald drew in his last
breath, I too, so many miles away, drew in an
involentay deep breath that totally over
whelmed me with a tremendous sence of peace and
well being.
I knew, without having to be told, that Donald
was gone from this earth, but he will always
live deep within my heart.
That night, as I looked up at the star-less
night sky through my tears, one single star
appeared. It took the shape of a cross and
my heart was filled with the comfort that
Donald was finely at peace. He was home.
Praise God, he was home!

WHERE GOD HAS PUT A PERIOD.
