Cleanest Sites on the Web
|
Here it is. My page with a list of Soapers' Sites. These are personal webpages that have been sent to me by my fellow soapers. What is a soaper? A soaper is a person who makes soap! Yes, that's right. Home made soap. It is a craft, a hobby, a business. Most of all it is a very satisfying occupation. Our family uses home made soaps that I make for bathing and shampoo, for tough cleaning jobs, for certain skin maladies. No, I am not a doctor, pharmacist, or chemist. All I really know is what kinds of soaps work for us here in my home and what kinds of herbs seem to benefit us. I won't even begin to list herbs and benefits. There are lots of sites already online that will do that. Suffice it to say that herbs and home made soaps can be very beneficial. Since we have a few small goats and some garden space, we use goat milk and home grown herbs in our soaps. My house smells heavenly on soap making days! I even make old fashioned, plain lye soap. I use that for lots of tough cleaning jobs. I have even taken tough stains out of my carpeting with it and it left the carpet soft and fresh. I shred it up using a Salad Shooter, simmer it for a few minutes until it's dissolved, and add enough water to make about a gallon. This is what I use for our laundry. It cleans very well. When cooled, it becomes a gel. I can rub that onto stains. I use about a cup in each load of laundry. (This also works with commercial bars of soap. Just be sure it's real soap and not a detergent based, deodorant bar.) Modern soap making ingredients and methods produce a product that is mild enough for a baby's skin. If correctly made, home made soap shouldn't burn your skin in any way. (How many times have I heard folks say they remember home made soap that would peel a layer of hide off of them?!) So, just go ahead and wander through these beautiful sites from some of the most beautiful people I know. While you are there, sign their guest books or drop them a line via email and let them know how much you enjoyed their sites! Ann
