You guys need to get a life. Don't you have anything better to do than put down what has been historically a great program? With displays such as yours, is it any wonder that so many people do not take college hockey seriously!

Sorry, No Apologies!!!

I have very little tolerance for ignorant, arrogant fans. Todd didn't sound like he was being "sarcastic", he sounded serious enough to warrant a response. And as for Gopher fans not thinking that North Dakota is a big rival, mabye it's because the Goofs can't buy a win at Englestad anymore. And that's "The Truth".

Gophers suck

I think every anti-gopher fan should give Brian congratulations on standing up to those loser Gopher fans that are determined to wreck this guestbook. I will continue to support any team that plays the Gophers this following season. I will be a student as SCSU this fall, and I like many people in the NHS will give Woog and his ckokers hell.

Joke for Brian

Question- How do you get a U. of North Dakota graduate off your front porch?

Answer- Pay him $10 for the pizza.

Remember last year? Bison 34 Sioux 17
Prediction for this year- Bison 56 Sioux 3

NDSU Bison RULE!!! UND Sioux SUCK!!!

I am not necessarily a college hockey fan since we don't have a team. I just cheer for Minnesota because UND claims to have a great rivalry with them. Todd and GopherRob are probably right about Minnesota not thinking much about the rivalry with UND though.

N.D.S.U.C.K.S.

The title of this message says it all, but I'll elaborate like I usually do. First of all, last year's final score was 31-10. Get that memory checked!!! Secondly, just remember that the Sioux have won 5 out of the last 7 games against the "Thundering Nerds", and will have a good team again this season. Not to mention the fact that the Bison haven't won a national championship since 1990, a pretty poor record for a program that thinks it walks on water. I'll give you credit for getting rid of Rocky "Knucklehead" Hager (previous NDSU Football Coach) and replacing him with a classy guy like Bob Babich. But that won't help you this year, pal!!! "The Truth's" prediction: Sioux 31, Bison 16. The Nickle Trophy is coming back to the Forks!!!

Thanks For Reminding Me

Thats right, the score was 31-10. Sorry about that. The Nickel Trophy is staying in the F-M area for a long, long time. We just had the best what is probably the best recruiting class in school history. Jason Moore, the player of the year in ND last year, turned down 3 D1 offers to come play for the Bison. Every player in the state of ND that Coach Babich offered a scholarship to accepted it. You can have all the the ND players that you got because we got all of the best. I'm surprised Brooks Bollinger decided to go to Wisconsin instead of NDSU. But, I guess I can't blame him since he will start early in his Badger career. It's true that the Sioux have won 5 of the last 7 games against the Bison, but who won the previous 10 meetings??? At first, I didn't like the move of firing Hager. I thought that the new A.D. was just trying to show who was in control and was looking for an excuse to get rid of him. But I have to admit, Babich was a great h

Typical Bison Rhetoric.....

The Bison ALWAYS claim to have the "best recruiting class", so that point is meaningless right now. I don't think Brooks Bollinger had any interest in the Bison, it came down to either Wisconsin or UND. I wish him nothing but the best. As for the future of the rivalry, that isn't really predictable, but I wouldn't make any claims of long-term dominance. I think it will be back and forth for awhile. As for the 12 game Bison winning streak, you can blame that on Pat Behrns running our program into the ground in the early 1980's.

Behrns to blame?

I didn't really follow either program back then, but it seems to me that Behrns might have been made a scapegoat. The problems might have been in the in the administration at UND. Look what Behrns has done at UNO lately. He turned what was one of the worst programs in the NCC for a long time into one of the best.

UNO Maverick Hockey on the rise.

Eventhough I am a Minnesota native and a fan of the Gophers, this site is damn funny. I have always said the idiots at UM need to get the best talent on the ice that they can get, but the old timers have convinced most people that is is neat to have a all-Minnesota team.

But the real reason I decided to send in a note is that I was wondering if anyone in WCHA land had been hearing anything about the UNO Maverick Hockey team. It looks as if we are going to apply to join the CCHA. I am a little disappointed because I wish UNO would have an opportunity to kick ass on all the teams in the WCHA. But that conference as a serious attitude problem.

Anyone find it funny that the games the Gophers cant win are just another game. It will be another year of the Sioux kicking the Golden Chocker ass.
So I guess the national title game for the Gophers is just another game, they really are more interested in winning a hobey baker. Who is the best candidate to win the Hobey this year. Sorry I bet blake has it wrapped up... Cherry Picker Dave Spehar will score 20 points and never make it over his blue line. Talk about a one deminsional player. As for the Bison whey does hockey season start, oh yeah I forgot they don' t have a real team. But I bet that the farm classes are real good.

SCSU girl,

How many WCHA titles?
How many WCHA playoff titles? (1994 ring a bell?) How many NCAA appearances?

SCSU answer is 0!

So before you slam the Gophers, remember 2 things:
1. SCSU hasen't won dick.
2. You are a junior college filled with UMN rejects!

Rodents shouldn't talk either.......

While it is true that St. Cloud hasn't won much as a D-I Program and that they do tend to fade down the stretch, the Gophers don't have much to brag about either. Let's look at "The Rodent Record":

1) Number of NCAA Titles since 1979: 0

2) Number of choke jobs since then: Plenty

3) Number of whining incidents by Doug "Woogie" Woog: Too Many To List

Also, your comments about St. Cloud being a "junior college" reaffirm my belief that the heart of the Big Ten Hockey Conference movement is in Rodent Land. Also, I wouldn't call Matt Cullen, Mark Parrish, and Josh DeWolf "UM Rejects". I call them "the ones that got away". And that's "The Truth".

Boy, oh boy, do people like to talk about the Gophers a lot. It just shows that even when they have a bad year, they are always the subject of the conversation. The Bison don't seem to be very popular on this board either. But, the Bison kicked the Sioux's ass last year and will do so again this fall. If I was a Sioux fan, I wouldn't be talking about any long term domination over the Gophers in hockey because, whether you like it or not, the Gophers still have the best hockey tradition in the WCHA and will definitely be back soon. It seems like the Sioux fans think that they can have a couple decent years and they can talk like their hockey program is as good as Minnesota's and always has been. My prediction for the series between the Gophers and Sioux this year will be 3 games to 1 in favor of the Gophers. After that happens, I won't see any of you Sioux fans on this board.

Oh, and whoever that idiot was that posted a message saying that he was glad that Erik Day was hu

Why the U sucks (also re SCSU being a junior college)

Well, I see that the people that go to the U think that they are the only college worth caring about in the state. Well, I hate to break it, but the U sucks. Not only are people finally realizing that they are not the only one to have a D1 team in the state (UPN9 gave the huskies air time this yr, totally pissing off MSC), but they also treat their students like shit. I have heard stories about students (some who left because they didn't like how they were treated) who are fighting desparately to get an education there. My cousin goes there, he had a problem with a class or two (just a couple of gen ed's that he had to take), and he got kicked out of the "college" that he was in. he had made up one bad grade and only had one other on his record, but did he get a probation of any sort? NO! he was kicked out. well, he decided that maybe he could change his major, (even though i dont think he's officially declared one) b

Why the U sucks (also re SCSU being a junior college) cont.

well, he decided that maybe he could change his major, (even though i dont think he's officially declared one) but NO! can't change your major. so he cant change his major, can't register for classes in the fall, and also had a big fight with them about financial aid (how can you get info from a company that doesnt exist anymore?). ok, now its time to defend my school. While it may be true that you can get a 2-yr degree at SCSU, that does not make it a junior college. SCSU is the second biggest university in the entire state. Even though you may not be able to get a doctorate there, you can still get a masters degree. And maybe theyre not as well known as the U, but they also don't get as much funding. SCSU is also highly credited, and has better programs in some areas than the U does. And, as some might think from the media, we are not all a bunch of drunks. We not any worse than any other college anywhere

SCSU place in Minnesota

SCSU student,
Since when does you cousin represent the student body at the U of MN? Do you think that what happened to your cousin only happens at the U of MN? You can't tell me that something similar has never happened at SCSU. How is it the U fault that your dumbass cousin got bed grades?
In response to you cousin getting kicked out of his college. Many of the U of MN "colleges" (Medical, Law, Business) are very competitive. Unlike SCSU, they just don't accept any smuck off the street. If your cousin or any other student can't hack it, then there is SCSU as a second option.
One last thing. "Know when to say when" with drinking and with leaving messages. 3 messages for one story! As everyone knows SCSU students don't use that advice very much.

Don't you just hate jealousy?

I shouldn't even respond to Mr. Gophers and Bison Rule because the whole post was full of crap. But I'll list a few FACTS about Fighting Sioux Football and Hockey:

1) The Not-So Golden Gophers are 0-7-1 in their last 8 games at Englestad Arena.

2) Sioux hockey has suffered just 3 losing seasons in the last 20 years.

3) The Bison have lost 5 out of the last 7 games against the Sioux in football.

4) The Sioux have won 4 national championships in Hockey since 1979. The Gophers have won ZERO.

I'm not saying that these trends will continue, but right now Gopher and Bison fans are green with jealousy over the success of Sioux athletics. And that's "The Truth".

In response to Brian "The Liar" Helland's post:

1. The Gophers have had a few bad years recently in Grand Forks.

2. The Gophers have 0 losing seasons in the last 20 years (I think they were above .500 by the end of last year).

3. The Sioux have lost 12 of the last 17 games to the Bison.

4. The Gophers won many national titles before 1979. The Sioux (Team Canada) won less than the Gophers. I'm not going to spend the time and energy to get the exact numbers.

All this is the TRUTH!

To all the "HICK" North Dakota fans who hate anything to do with Minnesota -

There seems to be one small detail of last season that has been forgotten. When the Fighting Susans came to MN they did more than play us. They begged us for $10,000 to fix up their flooded, piece of shit arena! Unfortunatley we gave them the money. I'm not sure, but I believe the other WCHA schools did the same. I hope all the money was used in an orederly fashion, i.e. expansion of the parking lot to accommodate more tractors and combines.

P.S. ND residents should petition for sand bagging to be included in the 2000 Olympic games...You'll win gold for sure.

this page is pathetic

It's hard to believe someone had enough time on their hands to create a "Gophers Suck" page. Let's reflect a little bit, shall we?
1996-1997 gopher season - 75th year of Minnesota's Pride On Ice and a WCHA championship. Funny how other teams forget it so easily.
Oh and let's talk about a team with absolutely no class, not much talent, and an incredibly embarrassing crowd/arena - The UMD Bulldogs. Remember the incredulous behavior Spehar received? How unsportsmanlike. I didn't hear the Bulldog fans cheer for their team half as much as they sneered at Spehar. Let's get real, people with class know how to support their team, have some good-natured jeering-like fun and walk away with diginity, unlike the Bulldog's crowd.

The Gophers may not have had a stellar 97-98 season, but they played with class, which is more than I can say for much of the WCHA.

gopher fan support

It's amazing. I wrote in this terribly hideous guest book and then went back and read what some people have written. Sounds like men with very little education to me.

Gopher hockey is an amazing experience. Not so much what is being played on the ice, but the fans, the city and the entire state support they receive. Ever been to the opening season game at the DECC in Duluth? Pathetic!!!! A little siren and some AC/DC music just isn't what I'd call much of a show. Go to Mariucci and you'll see such an amazing amount of support and excitement you won't know what hit you. Murals dedicated to former all-americans, team photos, action photos and numerous awards. It's an unbelievable sight to see. Although everyone knows a building doesn't make a good team, a nice building brings the fans that cheer on the teams to victory. And the Gophers certainly have that - unconditional support, which is more than I can say for several other WCHA teams.

Where else can you fi
