To the individual above who thinks that Gopher fans and their support of the Gophers is "unconditional." Hello... Were you there at the games this past year. The tickets may have been sold, but the seats were nearly half empty most of the time, and when the Gophers would fall behind by 2 or more goals, most of the rest would leave in the second period. I know, I was there. Changing topics, how come the PA announcer no longer tells the crowd at Mariucci that "icing" has occured. Have the Gopher fans finally learned how that rule works?

Gopher Hockey Fans: You can't win the big one. Your arena is a Corporate Sports Palace tailor-made for the corporate weasels who don't know squat about hockey and don't care. Woog is an embarrassment to the school and to D-I Hockey in general. The arrogance of your fan base is what ticks people off, not the fact that you're a winning team every year.

Bison Football Fans: You are living in the past. Your program is full of cult-like fans who think that the D-II National Title should be given to their beloved Bison every year. You haven't won a National Title in 7 (going on 8) years, yet you still think you're the greatest thing since sliced bread. The only good thing about your program right now is Head Coach Bob Babich. October 17th, 1998 is Nickle Trophy Liberation Day!!! I can't wait!!!

As I was saying, this is my final comment on this topic. And it's also "The Truth". :-)

You know what, I was wrong about what I said about the Gophers, they DO Suck.

Above I had stated that this page was pathetic and that the Gophers are Minnesota's pride on ice, however, who am I trying to kid. You are correct about the Gophers. They can't win the big one and they are not likey to do so in my lifetime. Lesson learned. Even though they are losers I will remain one of their loyal followers.



Well guess what Brian? The Bison beat the Sioux last year. I don't think that the division two national title should be given to anyone (The Sioux have never won a national football title in my lifetime). You seem to think it was so terrible of Rocky Hager to call UND "knuckleheads" but you don't seem to mind insulting the Gophers at every opportunity you can find. The Bison will retain the Nickel Trophy this fall. And the security guards in Fargo will do a much better job of keeping an eye on the trophy in the week preceding the game like the ones in Grand Forks couldn't do. By the way, that was pretty fun taking that trophy last year. It took a lot of planning.



If I get elected governor of Minnesota this fall, I will not give another dime of money to the people in North Dakota again. After I have seen what kind of arrogant morons there are in that state on this board, they can find a way to help themselves. I hope they get flooded out again. They deserve it. Maybe this time both of their piece of shit arenas (Englestad Arena and Hyslop Center) will be damaged beyond repair. It is not beyond the realm of reason that Minnesota may win another WCHA crown some day, however they wil bow out in the first round of the NCAA playoffs as usual and will never win the NCAA championship ever again! (as long as they recruit only in the state of MN)

I think the maturity level of the Gopher fans on this board is just as low as some of the sioux fans on this board. The fact of the matter is, it doesn't matter how good a team was in the past because it isn't going to help current team. But if you want to get into the championship battle, Michigan has one the most followed by UND. So overall UND has one more championships than Minnesota. Also, I don't think UND begged any of the WCHA schools for money to fix the arena it was offered. To wish something like a flood on to a city is horrible. I don't remember who wrote but that was purely hateful. Everyone here is an adult so why can't you just act like one. Also, Minnesota has just as many hicks around there as North Dakota does. Before anyone bashes me about saying bad things about MN, I tell you that I am from Minnesota so I can say whatever I damn well please.

If Spehar is such a "cherry picker" or "suck hole," then why can't teams stop him. They should be able to predict where he'll be on the ice, right? Scoring 20 goals his freshman year followed by 19 his soph is hardly being contained. Remember he's only 5'7" 185 lbs. Why can't teams simply shut him down? No WCHA team has stopped him from scoring. To me there seems to be an awful lot of jealously on this page directed towards Spehar. Minnesota wasn't the only WCHA school to recruit him, they were just the one he didn't say NO to.

One last question. Why isn't there a page of this manner directed towards Alaska-Anchorage? They've sucked for years. The answer is simple. You make fun of your fears and what you are jealous of. Deny it if you want, but think about it long and hard. You'll see.

Who would be jealous or fear a team that went 16-20 last year? HA! HA! HA! At least Anchorage's coach doesn't pay off its players under the table. The gophs get the cream of Mn's recruiting crop every year and still can't win the big one, and these days they are struggling to get to a .500 record. I am the first to admit that the Gophers had a tough 97-98. You can even say they sucked.

I am sick and tired of reading all the anti gopher garbage on this site. Gopher hockey players are the cream of the crop of minn hockey talent. We should all be happy they have put their NHL teams on hold and stay 4 more years to thrill us with all of their talent and charm. Lets everyone get down on their knees and kiss the ground they walk on. ( Some gophers are even capable of walking on water.) Remember, they are the best of the best, if you don't believe that, just ask any of their daddys. OOH OOH OOH. P.S. They also have the best head coach in Div I hockey. if you don't believe that, just ask the players.

I'd rather be D-II and have a winning program instead of being D-IA and lose every single season. Your football program is the laughing stock of the Big Ten (even without Jim Wacker). Mabye if you joined the MIAC, you'd have a winning season. But until then, your football program will continue to finish 2-9 or 3-8. Oh well, at least you're Division I-A......

Really the Survey Says...

Kid`s that end up at a division 11 school for football are usually not good enough for division 1. Most people look at division 11 like J.V. football when they were in high school,hence North Dakota SUCKS !! No one out side of North Dakota cares about division 11 football.
Finally while it`s been 12 years since the University of Minnesota football progam has been to bowl game and 13 since they beat Clemson in the Liberty bowl, the progam still has a rich tradition of 6 national championships and 18 Big Ten titles. You can win all the division 11 championships you want because NO ONE CARES ABOUT division 11 FOOTBALL ~ IT`S J.V. !!!

What is an asshole like yourself from California trying to say the Sioux suck? Listen,I am not a Fighting Sioux fan but I think people from North Dakota know a hell of a lot more hockey than the pricks from California and you my friend are the on e that sucks.

So only people east of the Rocky mountains know hockey ? Let`s see we have 3 N.H.L teams and the I.H.L ~ That`s professional hockey something North Dakota has not or ever will know.Hockey at it`s highest level.Also the N.C.A.A must have thought we knew hockey since the 1998-99 final four is at the Pond in Anaheim California.
Finally there are still more players in the N.H.L from California then the hockey wise North Dakota.

Gopher Football Still Sucks.

I don't know why I even bother, but here's yet another response.......

1) There are a lot of former D-II Players in the NFL (Phil Hansen, John Mobley, John Randle, Leon Lett, Greg Lloyd, just to name a few).

2) D-II Football exists outside of North Dakota. For example Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas is a long-time D-II Power. Then there's Texas A/M-Kingsville (Kingsville, Texas), Northern Colorado (Greely, Colorado), and others.

3) Who really cares what mythical national titles the Gophers won before the Great Depression?!?! Most of us weren't even alive back then. Stick to modern history.

The sad fact remains, Gopher Football Sucks. If Mason can turn it around and the Gophers start winning, I'll give them credit. But until that happens, your program will continue to get it's butt kicked by legitimate Big Ten programs.
