Regiment History
OHIO ONE
HUNDRED and THIRD INFANTRY
(Three Years)
One Hundred and Third Infantry. Col., John S. Casement; Lieut.
Cols., James T. Sterling, Philip C. Hayes; Majs., DeWitt C.
Howard, Henry S. Pickands. This regiment was organized in the
state at large in Aug. and Sept., 1862 to serve for three years.
Having received arms in Cincinnati, it crossed over to Coving-
ton, where it was furnished with clothing and other necessaries
for camp life and thus equipped it marched out to Fort Mitchell.
Its first year of service was spent in Kentucky, but in the fall
of 1863 it was ordered to eastern Tennessee, where in its first
engagement, at Blue Springs, it lost 3 killed, 4 wounded, and 6
taken prisoners. During the siege of Knoxville the regiment lost
about 35 in killed and wounded. In May, 1864, it formed part of
Sherman's grand army and in the engagement at Resaca lost over
one-third of its effective force. The regiment lost heavily dur-
ing the Atlanta campaign. On May 1 its effective force numbered
450 men, but when Atlanta had fallen it could only muster 195.
It followed Hood to Tennessee and had another opportunity of show-
ing its pluck at the battle of Spring Hill. After Hood had been
driven from Nashville the regiment went to North Carolina, thence
to Ohio, and was mustered out on June 12, 1865.

Gerald Lamberson b. 18 Dec 1922 ss# 370-18-5676 died 5 Sept
1995 in Michigan.
I am quite sure this is the missing Gerry with the photos of both
Julia & husband Budd. There was a Geraldine Lambertson b. 20 april
1922 & died 4 Oct. 1995 with SS# 381-24-4820 that was likely his wife.
I can not find a newspaper source to get obit. to find children
likely to have
gotten the family genealogy info.
There is an obit on line of J. Minerva Look, 98, of 247 Cooper St.
that died
Jan 3, 1997 at Beechwood Health Center in Pekin, Ill ( obit was
for Pekin.She
was daughter of Ella M. Budd Lambertson & John L. Lambertson.
Mrs. Look was b.
May 14,1898 in Greenwood Township, Clare County , Mich.
Mrs. Look married John Look Sr. on June 3, 1917 in Pekin.
He died Mar 18,
1991. One son LeRoy Lambertson; two brothers ; one sister &
one step sister
died before she did!How can she have a son named Lambertson ? !
There is more, including a ref to her stepsister Florence BUDD of
Lacon, Ill.
The Lacon family of Budds were friends of my mom & dad.
I just traced the BUDD family I am chasing back to Devon. Richard BUDD
had one son in : William BUDD was Christened 22 May 1836 in Shebbear,
Devon Eng at Bible Christian church. Son of Richard Budd & Nancy
Gifford.
Richard had several other children ( likely Thomas & Jamie &
more) in
Devon, but not in IGI. Your Sheepwash & Shebbear are not far appart.
I
was in that area for a week researching my ancesters a few yrs ago.
My
Devon site & BUDD site all can be reached via my main genealogy
site:
http://www.his.com/~dickbolt/genealogy.html
Below is some of what I just posted on the forum & sent to a list
of 5
BUDD chasers that are all from Richard & William.
Dick
Well here is more BUDD info. It has not all been connected as you will
see. Not all are verified as being connected to William, so use data
below with care!

Hope this helps---Bob
* William BUDD b. 22 May 1836 in Shebbear, Devon of Bible Christian
church christning.
* William was son of Richard BUDD & Nancy GIFFORD. They had more
children, likely while still in England. A son Thomas is likely , but
not in IGI.
* Both Richard and wife and their children including William ended
up in
Chagrin Falls, Ohio, which is next to Cleveland.
* William married my ggrandmother after her first husband ( Thomas
BOLT)
left her in Canada.
* Both William & likely brother Thomas fought in American Civil
War. So
they left Devon in 1850s or early 1860s. They are NOT in Devon 1851
census. From date enlisted and age, its likely Thomas was brother or
close relative of William.
* An old obit for Wille BUDD says family arrived in Harrison area in
March 1883.I do not know if Richard BUDD and family ( old man then?)
also went to MI ? Also, his death date & place could bring new
info.?
* I have a copy of William & Julia's marriage license issued
on 14 May
1868.
* Theresa GIFFORD married Thomas BUDD 8 Oct. 1865 in Cuyahoga, Ohio.
* Fannie S. GIFFORD married Horton P. FULLER 11 April 1863 in ""
"""
* Thomas BUDD farm servant was working at ROGERs family in 1851in
Broadwoodwidger, Devon, England at 12 yrs old. He was born in
Bridgerule in Con??? This is a very close age match, but the real Tom
may have been in America by then?
* William BUDD was Christened 22 May 1836 in Shebbear, Devon Eng at
Bible Christian church. Son of Richard Budd & Nancy Gifford.
A William BUDD ( not 100% sure same one) posted application for
naturalization was 27 Jan 1860 in Ohio. It was in Tuscola County, Ohio?
* Richard BUDDs home had a Jamie son living there age 17 and likely
brother
to William.
* Jamie BUDD born to Thomas BUDD & Thersa GIFFORD 15 Aug 1872 in
Chagrin
Falls, Cuyahoga, Ohio.
* Grace BUDD marries Charles HAIN 9 July 1865 in Cuyahoga , Ohio.
* Martha L. BUDD marries William P. FOBES 13 Aug 1862 in Cuyahoga ,
Ohio.
* Martha BUDD born 9 Feb 1846 in Georgeham, Devon, Eng to James BUDD
&
Mary?.
* Thomas BUDD marries Theresa GIFFORD 8 Oct 1865 in Cuyahoga , Ohio.
* Based on Civil War info related to age stated, Thomas was born in
1840
& William in 1836.
* Based on Chagrin Falls 1870 Census:
-Richard BUDD born 1815 & Nancy in 1813.
-Son James born 1853.
-William married to Julia born in 1836.
-Julia born in 1843.
* In 1880 census, William & Julia & family were in Chagrin
Falls Typ.
Ohio .Note George was not listed as living with them. Remember
George
BOLT,my grandfather, he was listed in 1870 census as George BUDD, son
of
William which he was not!! So, where was he at age 16?? MI & OH
census
listings do not show.
* Many yrs ago, Florence BUDD sent my family a copy ( Xerox only) of
a
photograph of Julia and her kids at funeral time of Charles BUDD. Frank
was in Canada living and could not get there. Photo has pencil marking
that says "Our Last Xmas Together". Florence was living in Lacon IL.at
time. She and husband Carl are both deceast, however her sons are still
alive.Sons are:
- Jerry BUDD=?????
-Ronald BUDD listed under Ronald C. BUDD--217-7327091
-Melvin BUDD listed under Melvin C. BUDD in Lacon,
IL---303-2467840.
-Vernon BUDD, listed under Vernon G. BUDD--410-7499118
in Eden,MD.I
think this is correct, but have never talked direct!
Harrison Cemetary Info:
* Isaac BUDD, d. 19 Sept 1899, was 54 yrs & 9 mo old.---So born
1845.--Was orig told Isaac named the lake there as Budd Lake ?
* Cornelia BUDD, d. 1912 ( 1845-1912) ---possibly wife of Isaac?
* Ira BUDD, son of Wm., age 20, d. 23 June 1892.
Could you others help on getting a copy of that photograpy for us, any
any other good stuff?
I am still working on getting Julia's photo that Jerry Lanpson had.
Remember there are photos of Julia on line at my sites.
