Ode to Evelyn's Grannie

Evelyn's grannie

Sits on her fanny,

Rockin' away her day.

She sits there a-knittin',

Along with her kitten,

Who jumps on her lap to lay.

Knit one; perl two,

The needles, they flew,

And soon to kitty's dismay.

They gave him a poke.

And that's no joke.

So back on the floor he lay.

He tries once again,

To sit with his friend.

He gets poked once more, but hey!

He keep on a-tryin'

He just ain't buyin',

That floor as a bed, no way!

Ode to Mary's Frog

When her eyelashes begin to flutter,

You know it's time to run for cover.

'Cause then that frog with skin of green,

Comes up close to your TV screen.

She puckers up those big ole lips,

From which ofen slobber drips.

Then she gives you a great big kiss.

Let me tell you gals, she'll never miss.

When shes's done, it's a safe bet,

That your face will be dripping wet.

FRIENDSHIP'S TAPESTRY (thanks Anneliese)

So often when I think of you and all the times we shared

My heart is filled with thankfulness to have a friend who cared

Enough to listen to me tell of joys and trials.

You're being there has been enough to change my tears to smiles.

The subtle love between two friends is so hard to define.

It is not a square or circle or even a straight line.

It's somehow like a tapestry with colors soft and bold

yet deep within the weaving there are tiny threads of gold.

Yes, rare and oh so lovely are your friendships' threads of gold

For they will last a lifetime and then when my story's told

Someone will hold my tapestry and turn it towards the light

and tiny points, those threads of gold will gleam and shine so bright.

And they may think - it's just a thread like green or red or blue-

Perhaps they'll never ever know that golden thread was you.

But I've been thinking lately how you've touched my life just so-

Of how you are so dear to me - and I wanted you to know-

That even if you're next to me or though we're miles apart

Your golden thread of friendship still will weave within my heart.

Friendship (thanks Mo)

After a while you learn that what you really are is all the experiences and all the thoughts you've had and all the people who have touched your life, no matter how briefly.

After a while you learn that troubles are temporary and relationships aren't always permanent. You learn that many people come into your life and fade into forgetfulness while others remain as warm places in your heart.

You learn to forgive the bad times and overcome the resentments. And you learn to live with love in your heart for the good friends who may not be present, but who never go away because the warmth of their friendship and their essence lives within you and becomes a part of what you are.

Our Friend Who's Gone Away
(I found this for Jenny...We'll miss ya!)

We really didn't have her long - Our friend whose gone away.

And if things could be different I confess I'd have her stay

With us and bless us with her friendship and her smile,

She grew so very dear to us in such a little while.

Now we all are lonesome - Each heart has an empty space-

That wants to feel her hand again and see her smiling face -

And hear her speak so gently, and just be with us each day.

We miss her and we're grieving for - Our Friend whose gone away.

But I am very thankful -There is peace within my soul -

For I know she's with Jesus - I know He has made her whole.

And I know too I'll see her when He calls me from this place,

And when I go to live with Him - I know I'll see her face.

So as I write these words and I remember our Dear Friend.

I am thankful that He loaned her to us at the very end.

How precious are His thoughts toward us -

How wondrous are His ways -

He sent us such a lovely soul to bless and fill our days.

A friend is like a rare pink rose

With morning dew in sweet repose

Given to those we've come to love

Made with care by God above

To me you are that rose divine

Kept within this heart of mine

Tended daily with this prayer

"Our friendship may we always share"

GRANNIES

March 13, 1999 I found Grannies and it was fine.

They talk of fears, they talk of tears,

About their honeys and their funnies--they've been doing this for years.

With love and concern they send prayers from their hearts
And then after that the laughing starts.

Funny stories and jokes are seen by the hundreds.

There are questions and answers that seem to be endless,
Telling of memories and makebelieves that are stupendous.

They come together not to boast and many times even offer a toast.

At times I've seen them do a roast and that's how friends are made from coast to coast.

Grannies and Gramps are such caring folks,
They laugh, they cry, can be serious and can tell jokes.
They listen with sincerity to each and everyone,
It's good morning all and good night all when the day is done.

They share your grief, your problems, your accomplishments and joys.
They are concerned about all our grandchildren, little girls and little boys.
They are a family and show that they care,
and when needed all willing to offer a prayer.
They don't ask what race, religion or nationality,
It's just WELCOME, come join our family.

So I want to thank all of you for being there for me.
NO HESITATION DID I SEE.
