Today at 0520 we, the beta group headed out after cleaning our equipment. We loaded
them on the vans. The making of ammo in the factories was constant. We knew Sadam
had failed to accept the US's peace proposal by the deadline at 2000 Hrs (local).
I was ready to head out with the advance convoy which was ready to be stationed near
Iraq. We had waited 30 minutes for our order we ready our guns and planes, but the
order never came. Most young soldiers were getting trigger happy. Iraq was just around
the cliff. The air force was ready to back us up in case the Iraqi soldiers would attack first.
Not really that we needed their help. We were ready for this, and trained all our life for
this event. But it was a false alarm we headed back to out base. We rested and read the
letters that were given to us. Mine was from my family.

{1030 Hrs}

I didn’t get much sleep lately. The weather has been really bad. Its been raining. Some of
the soldiers on patrol got sick because of the rain, heh guess I was lucky that I was not
chosen for patrol. A bunch of helicopters had been flying around last night on their
routes. They were AH-1S Huey Cobra to be exact, these babies were fast but didn’t have
much fire power, they were usually used for patrol.
The sun is out bigtime! We got ready and left for our destined positions.

(1030 Hrs)

We patrolled the area when I found some leaflets that were lying about the area, they
were pictures of Sadam campaign against the U.S. This angered me but I keep cool and
continued. The US Propaganda sent some cartoons which were instructions on how to
surrender and how you’ll be treated if you surrender stuff to the Iraqis soldiers. These
were pretty cool. I gonna send this to you please frame it. Love you.

(1115 Hrs)

We were waiting for the convoys to move out.... I got on the truck and waited for my
partner to show. We were waiting for reports from the radio. They had been reports that
some marines got injured while on a raid in Iraq, when they accidentally step on a mine.
Damn Iraq soldiers there starting to set up booby traps. And some marines were captured.

(1200 Hrs)

We started to head up. Reports show that it was a mine field ahead. We were very careful
when approaching the area this was in Iraq land. I guess the big guns was the only thing
which made me feel safe. Call me silly but its true.

(1235 Hrs)

Now we're rolling through open desert. It would take us a while before we would reach
the stationed position.

 (1310 Hrs)

Pulling into new POS. There is fighting about 4 Km's ahead of us. There are artillery
units as far as I can see to the right and left flanks. We are pulling up forward of these
units. Damn it was about to start.

 (1845 Hrs)

When we arrived we started the setting up and getting ready to fight. The Airborne
Corps were fighting on the dune line 4000 meters ahead of us. We didn't know what was
going on we were in direct fire but some how we were confused. We took direct fire on
an Iraqi tank it worked, kiss that sucker good bye!
We ready up. For our next assault The main Iraqi troops showed up and got murdered
we weren’t really ready for this attack.
