The Golem
Hana Barak Engel introduces a series of works which describe the different ways to create a Golem, according to the Jewish Kabbalah and other religions, such as the creation of the Zombie in the Hawaiian culture and the Greek Oracle.
The “Book of Creation” in the Jewish heritage, describes specifically, step by step, the creation of a Golem.
In Professor Idel’s book I have encountered descriptions of different ways which the Kabbalists have used in the past. Creating a Golem was a relatively common procedure among Kabbalists and was considered the peak of the Kabbalist knowledge. One of the descriptions which remain in the collective memory as a tale tells of the Maharal of Prague.
