Walker spit his coffee out the next morning as he read the headlines of the paper....'Hanson Isn't So Wholesome'. The whole page was basicly covered with pictures of the guys with their arms around the girls,or holding hands, and the biggest picture on the page was of Zac and Rebecca kissing. He read the article on the next page...'Last night,Hanson appeared on Jay Leno, only to tell some startling news. Apparently, all 3 boys have close girlfriends, and they aren't afraid to show their affection either. Walking out of the Leno studio, oldest member,Isaac, was holding Amy,his girlfriend by the waist. While keyboardest Taylor was holding hands with his girlfriend,Katherine. Not to be left out of the fun, youngest member,13-year-old Zachary held Rebecca, his girlfriend very close to his side, and most surprising of all,as they got out of the posh limo,he kissed her in front of everyone. The questions arise about how serious these relationships really are...are any of them sleeping together? How long has this been going on? How long will it last? Oh,and just what was that necklace with the hearts hanging from Rebecca's neck? A gift from a Zac? A token of the relationship? What we do know is that Hanson isn't all wholesome afterall, they do have hormones.'
"What are you reading Honey?"Diana asked, walking into the kitchen.
"Look." She looked at the front page...pictures of her 3 sons and the girls that she loved like daughters were scattered over the front.
"Oh,and there's such a lovely article in there,"he said sarcasticly. Diana flipped the page and read the article.
"Hormones?"she said,"Do these reporters care about anything or anyone?"
"They do their job, that's all they care about."
"I can't beleive this."
"What did you expect? Nothing to happen when they announce that they've all got girlfriends? And then Zachary kisses Rebecca in front of everyone?"
"I don't know. But i mean,sleeping together?"
"Amy is pregnant."
"I know but these people don't know that, they're jsut jumping to conclusions. And hormones! I swear these people are idiots!"
"What's going on?"Ike yawned.
"The paper...look." His jaw dropped.
"Some people are so low. I'm going back to bed."
"Oh no you don't...get everyone up. We have to leave in 2 hours to tape Rosie."
"Oh ok." Everyone was up and bustling around. Rebecca helped Jessica and Avery fix their hair, and put a hint of make-up on them.
"Jessie looks so old,"Zac whispered to Rebecca.
"She's beautiful,"Rebecca smiled.
"Don't remind me."
"Oh,trying to be the big brother and watch out for you little sister? That's sweet Zac." She kissed him lightly.
"It's just that with her hair curled, and lip gloss, she just looks so..."
"Pretty."
"Yeah, and she's not a little girl that plays house anymore. She's 10,almost 11. God i remember that age."
"I don't even wanna know. I wasn't here to be your guardian angel then. I don't even wanna know." Through the whole conversation they were all walking to the lobby. When they reached outside, they were met by the press and many photographers. The week went on like this. Rebecca kissed Zac on the lips softly right before each performance. It was like a superstitious thing,to make him sing perfect, although there was no doubt in her mind that he had the most perfect voice on this earth. Alot of people were always saying how his vioce had gotten so much deeper since 'Middle of Nowhere',and it had,but when singing,he could still hit the high notes, and sound as angelic as ever. It sent chills through her. When they were little he would tell her...'I wanna sing for people, alot of people. And when i do,you're gonna be there, with me'. Even then, they couldn't be without eachother.
On the Saturday flight home,Zac was sleeping with his head in Rebecca's lap.
"Zac,baby,wake up."
"What?"
"They're gonna serve some stuff to eat. Do you want anything?"
"Food?"
"Yes food silly."
"Yeah,i want some." He sat up in his seat, but he laid his head on Rebecca's shoulder.
"What's wrong Zac?"
"I'm so tired."
"I know. That was a wild trip."
"You're telling me. I'm just glad you were there."
"I know,me too."
"Excuse me,do either of you want some cookies? Or a coke?"
"Two Diet Dr. Peppers and 2 things of cookies please,"Zac ordered. Zac always ordered for both of them,Rebecca loved the way he did that. He always knew what she wanted, and it was adorable at how he would smile when he saw that the waitress realized that Rebecca was his girlfriend.
"Coming right up." The stewardess walked away.
"This spring,we have to do some small concerts, then we have to tour."
"Zac,no."
"I know,i don't want to either. Thanks." The woman brought their stuff.
"What am i gonna do without you? It hurts too much to be away from you."
"I know,we'll figure something out,i promise."
"Ya know what? I realized something this trip. Zac,when you kissed me in front of all those people, and when you were blushing talking about me on TV all the time, and when i found out that 'Forever' was dedicated to me,and just, just the way that you always kept your arm around me,and held me close to you, even with the whole world watching...Zac i realized just how much i love you,and i saw all of those little things in you that i love so much. Like how you always order for me,or how you seem so proud to present me to your fans, and how when you're singing, you totaly hympnotize me with your voice." All of this came rushing out of her mouth, and she didn't know if she said it right, but she had to tell him how strongly she felt about him.
"Rebecca, that is the sweetest, most sincere thing anyone has ever said to me. I love you with all of my heart, and if i ever say different, put he in a mental home." She giggled at his last comment.
"I'm serious. Nothing could ever change the way i feel about you. I've wanted you forever, even when we were kids. But anytime i would try to kiss you or anything, you would say no. But now, after 13 years of waiting,i've got you,and i'm never letting you go." He couldn't beleive that he had actualy gotten that out. The hardest thing for him was to sort his emotions out and say them to someone's face.
"Zac,i love you."
"I love you too Rebecca." Their faces were close together now,and he kissed her. It felt like the first time,on her front porch, after Christmas shopping and a movie. He was so scared, yet so sure that it was the right thing.
"Honey! How was it?"Rebecca's mom greeted her.
"Great!" She hugged both of her parents.
"Hi Zac!"her dad smiled, hugging him lightly,"Take care of my daughter?"
"You bet!" He dragged Rebecca's suitcase up to her room.
"Sweetie,i have to go unpack,"he said.
"Ok,see you later. Call me." They kissed sweetly, and he left. She sat on her bed, then decided to go downtown and buy the new Hanson CD. Walking down the road, she noticed how it was starting to warm up just a bit. Walking into the small music shop, she headed towards the pop/rock section. As she was looking through the Hs,someone put their hand in front of her. She looked up.
"Bryan. What a pleasant surprise."
"You're lying."
"I know."
"You looked good on TV,ya know that?"
"Bryan, you're worst than Kailey, you know that?"
"I want you." He grabbed her and brought her against him.
"Bryan! Let me go!" She tried to wiggle free, but his grip was tight.
"LET ME GO!!" This time she got the attention of the clerk. He raced over.
"Hey,let the girl go!" Bryan stepped back.
"Watch yourself Rebecca. You better be careful, and Zac can't protect you." He walked out, leaving her stunned.
"Who was he? Are you ok?"
"Yeah,i'm fine. He's just some jerk that likes me,and hates my boyfriend."
"Oh,ok. Watch out for him."
"He's all bark. I've dealt with him before. But thanks."
"Oh,did you come in for something?"
"Yes,the new Hanson CD,and their new single."
"Oh yes...here,we've got them on front window display." She paid for the 2 things, and went back home.
