What the aim of meditation?

The aim of the meditation to weaken hatred,replacing it with friendliness and love. Having carried out the preliminary instructions,the meditator brings his mind to bear on the subject of friendliness.although in the beginning it may be found necessary to think about friendliness-what it means,why it is desirable,and how it can be put into effect in our lives-the practice itself is not really a matter of conceptual thought. Nor is it a matter of nostalgic,rather,is that the meditator allows to arise within himself a longing for well-being.As the meditation progresses this longing will become deeper,increasingly mature and realistic.
