Doink is a rather intellectual psionicist. She's got a very analytical mind, and takes note of the people around her very well. She's recently moved to Kyoto to take a break from saving the world and to attend university. She has, however, written a letter to her brother Mikuro with her opinions:
Dear M,
I hope this letter finds you well. Since you never really told me how much you were paying attention to the "events" of late, perhaps I should take this chance and get you all caught up... (Or perhaps I should study for Statistics. Oh well.) "School's" going well, by the way - no need to worry!
Since my "final" year at Tigurami high, I've run into a group of rather interesting characters, who, for one reason or another, all allied ourselves on various missions - at least insofar as the final outcome all suited our own goals. Somewhere between friends and allies, they've all come to mean something to me, for better or worse.
Mujakiko Seizoshajamu
Mujakiko is a sweet an innocent girl, who comes from a jam-selling family. She's also quite the martial artist (though she doesn't look it), but her light-hearted air and perhaps sometimes blank looks makes me concerned that perhaps the battlefield is not the best place for her. Still, she is kind, and has some unusual wiles in the realm of "cute" which have helped us more than once before. Her older brother is actually protective of her (hint hint, Mikuro!!!!) and she keeps a little stuffed teddy bear on her at all times. Probably the nicest and least-dark of the team.
Ranith
Ranith... Ranith is.... Hm. I really don't know what I want to say about Ranith. She's by far the member of our little "team" that I get along the worst with. She's a dragon in human form, and can change between the two at will. She's also... cold, and I'd say "heartless and cruel", but it's not as true as I once believed it to be. She simply has a very different set of guidelines than the rest of us. Also has a bit of a wicked tongue - Skeeve has suffered at her sarcasm and wit often enough. ;) Most interesting about Ranith for me, at least, is that I have heard she was reluctant...? to kill Chihan in their battle against him. And a rather distant memory of a psionic first impression of her... sad and lonely. If that's still the case, she hides it very well. She also stayed mostly out of the Seraphim battle, at least until the children were removed to safety. She's a tough one to understand... I'd be tempted to poke around, but Ranith has some shields or possibly animal instincts that let her know when something's running amuck. She works for a still nameless organization (that's driving me nuts...!!!) who seem to share an unusual sense of humour with her. Friends with Janus. She's currently also Third's keeper, which worries me - I can't imagine her being a parental type. Still, when I think back on the events of the past year, she does seemed to have looked out for children as much - if not more - than one could ask for. Perhaps I shouldn't complain so much.
She also eats the dead.
Kawatta Heishi
You have to love Kawatta. Not sure what it is, but our multiple-personality mech pilot has rather grown on me. Kawatta's light hearted but serious, excels at "getting the job done", and gives the group a sense of balance. (Surprising, considering...!) Good at mech piloting and ninjing. The cheque, I am told, is in the mail.
Tenshi Nekono
Hm.... Well, I can't say I expected to be hit on by a girl in my life, but I guess it happens...! Tenshi is a vapid, high-strung and energetic teenager girl... a little prone to acting without thinking though. You know Reion's younger brother, Silku? She pushed him off a roof once... @_@ (Poor girl - she's never lived it down!) (And she probably never will!)
Eugene Sichi
Eugene! New guy to our group, and if he hadn't said having me in his mind was like a squid on crack, I'd probably still like him. ;) He's friendly, logical (incredibly logical...) and likes to think things through. Yeah, him I like. I'm rather concerned about his family, though... he reports back in with them rather often (*cough*everyhouronthehour*cough*) and he seems to slightly(?) resent the control they exercise on his life. I've also been told he is some sort of science experiment, and he's looking more aerodynamic of late. Also, he seems to have an Oedipus complex... @_@... now that's scary.
Skeeve Plowse
Also known as the Great Skeeve, at least to the group. (Well, except for Ranith. And the guys. Okay, nevermind, I guess I'm the only person that calls him the Great Skeeve...!) Skeeve's a lot of fun, but has a dark past that he tries to keep hidden. Also very, very lusty, but seems to have gotten himself engaged in the recent past, so we'll have to see how things turn out...! I admire Skeeve for his prowress with magic - despite his flamboyant and occasionally cocky air, he is as good as he says, and it hasn't gone to his head as much as he makes out. ;) Plus, he got himself nigh-turned-into-a-puddle in the last adventure I had with these guys, saving Sumire-chan. My view of him was greatly raised by that action....
Reion
... um.... You know Reion, right? Good looking guy, works at the temple... can bake two cakes in midair while floating the cookies to the oven? Yeah, um, anyways....
Silku
Reion's little brother! Tenshi pushed him off a roof, once... @_@. Silku's a sweety, but he keeps trying to set Reion and myself up! Oh well. ^_^. Reion's lucky to have such a great brother....! (hint, hint, Mikuro!) Silku's also a psionic, though currently less powerful than Reion. They are both orphens.
Nikemo (Nikki)
Poor Nikki! (And poor Kawatta!) I shouldn't give away "secret identities" or anything (how do people keep coming up with these...?!) but Nikki has a second lifestyle that... well... makes him uncomfortable at times? He's also Katsumi's younger brother, so I try to keep an eye out for him.
Sentai
Sentai! Another guy I actually kind of like, not that I'd want anyone to know...! Has a sort of, in-your-face, I-do-whatever-the-!@#@-I-want attitude. He's a fire "demon", but was caught by the team and put in the temple for safekeeping. (And it /is/ safer --we've had threats on his life from Secret Blade.) Currently in a *cough* alternative...? relationship with Ranith's younger cousin, Yuuhi. I'd object, but I don't know either of them too well, and I have reason to suspect Yuuhi's probably a lot older than he looks.
Sumire
Our cute-redhead artist. Or Skeeve's cute redheaded artist, to be exact. ;) We're still wondering how she ended up nude in an enchanted painting (don't ask - just trust me on this one, Mikuro!) but Skeeve and her seem to be getting along just fine. She's also taken up magic under Skeeve's tutelage - it will be interesting to see how far she'll progress. With Skeeve as a teacher, I'm sure she'll be a master magician in no time - let's just hope that doesn't become a problem for us.
Katsumi
....um.... you know how sometimes you get into someone's bad books without really meaning to? (Or having to do anything at all?) That's me and Katsumi... Katsumi is a psionisist (let me guess - you already know him, right?) and forms a sort of "team" with Sai. (Like I said, no going into names and titles on paper....!) Katsumi's pissed off at me because Sai likes me (at first at least - it's probably since progressed to me /actually/ having done something wrong, by not telling Sai I'm not interested.... I'm working on it! I'm working on it!) but I can't help but find his love for Sai heartwarming. (Don't tell him I said that! I'll kill you, Mikuro - I mean it!!!!) I secretly hope to help get the two together, but Sai can be sort of... slow.
Sai
.... Um.... Uh....Well... Sai's another psionic from the temple that Reion currently runs. He seems to have a bit of a crush on me... I'm trying to break it to him that I'm not interested, but the subtle hints just don't do much for a guy like Sai... other than that, he's a really cheerful guy, an optimist, sporty (you should see him got at it with a volleyball.... That sounds worse than I intended it to.... @_@), and a hard worker. Also blatantly oblivious to Katsumi's feelings for him... (And NO, I /don't/ care what the rest of them say, I am NOT as dense as Sai - at least I /know/ when someone likes me.... Right?) Sai lost his hand awhile ago trying to save the Sensei at the psionics temple.
Yuuhi
Ranith's younger cousin. Sort of has a fit when the room gets crowded... I don't ask questions about this one - I think it's better that way. Since he's related to Ranith, he's probably a dragon as well. Currently in an... "interesting" relationship with Sentai. (Thinking on it, I wonder how Yuuhi got to the temple, anyways....)
Gabriel
Also known as "Third".
Zoicite
Ouch. I didn't know it was possible to laugh in such a manner that one's ears bleed... a general from "the Dark Kingdom", Zoicite seems to be part of Skeeve's "dark past" - seems to have had him pretty whipped, in fact. I suspect she... he? kept his minions in line via threat of laughter alone... @_@
Taka Megane
The Rijichou of Tigurami. Nice guy... bit overworked and stressed... seems to be very close to Nikki. (I wonder if he knows of Nikki's.... um... hobby...)
The Principal
... A man very, very, VERY concerned with honour. There are worse things to be concerned with... proud of the school, and of the achievements of its students.
Yukai Kimochi
A bad man... I think... when I can recall more, I'll let you know, Mikuro....
Chihan
I never met Chihan - I've been told he was an Earth demon that was ultimately defeated by the team.
Eurie
An air demon that Sentai hates. ^_^. She was caught in a mirror. Also sort of valley-girlish, but I've picked up from Omero there's a lot more to this one than meets the eye.
Touma
Also known as "That Bastard". Touma was an ice demon, till he got his butt whupped. I don't have much to say on him, save that he reminded me of nothing if not a sleek business man. Also tried to get Omero to join Secret Blade once (well, Omero pretty much walked in to that one... but let's not talk about that... it still gives me a headache...)
Tom
... the very bad man. Currently dead, if memory serves. Tom was responsible for the rape of Third, so needless to say, he never made it to my good books. I have little to say about him... what's more important to me when I remember him is how Third reacted to the whole situation. In Third's first demonstration of independent will, Third tried to kill Tom. (Third is quite the crack shot). I tried to dissuade Third, but couldn't... in the end, I had to make a judgement call and order Third not to fire (to the anger of some of my teammates, I might add...). What struck me as terrible, however, was that the first feeling Third brought to itself was the desire to kill... Children should never have to face these things, Mikuro... a 14 year old should never be put in a position where they wish to committ murder. And for that to be the first real feeling one can even remember? My anger at those who have done this to Third remains, yet I do not know what I can do to help... But my experiences with Third has left me resolved to do my best to ensure no other child will go through what Third has had to.
Jeanice
Poor boy! Because that's what it turned out "Jeanice" is after all - Janus. I'd love to ask how he's become cursed, but I think that's one foot I'll keep out of my mouth a bit longer. ;) Works at a very well stocked (VERY well stocked) flower shop.
Alexandria
Where are all these secret agents coming from? Alexandria is a member of the British secret service, which apparently has been infiltrated by Secret Blade. A potential ally... or a potential spy?
Kunzite
... Ah, I just give up on Skeeve's past... too many weirdos running through it. (Not that the group of us are likely to help with that, in retrospect!) Zoicite's lover, and I suppose Sumire's "dad".
Seraphim
... Someone we never had the chance to fully understand. Seraphim claimed to be a "fallen angel", but all she seemed to want was to have children that would stay with her forever. Despite being mentally unstable (very smart, but unstable nonetheless) she appears to have been the leader of Secret Blade. ... Hn. Doesn't seem too likely, if you ask me. But then who was really pulling the strings....? I should ask Third or Eurie... There's something wrong with this story. Ultimately, Seraphim was massacred in our first and final battle, an outcome that I have come to regret. More than anyone we dealt with, I truly believe Seraphim could have been reasoned with. If we only had had more time... and perhaps more support for something other than outright obliteration. I suspect I am the only person on the team who actually mourns Seraphim's passing.
Ran
Ran is the ghost that took up residence in my room awhile back. (You didn't put him there, did you??) He seems nice enough, but is a bit freaked out 'cause "he sees live people... all the time...". He's recently reappeared in my appartment in Kyoto... he seems to have followed me. Well, at least I have some company out here. (Actually, I think of all the ghosts I've encountered, Ran's one of the nicest.) He also got upset one day and muttered "Death walks today..." - kind of freaky, but maybe he has preminitions? I don't think Ran's a problem for me keeping out of sight for a bit... here's hoping he doesn't become one.
That's about all for now, Mikuro. I'll make ammendments to this as stuff comes along. There's a lot of work for me to do out here in Kyoto - I haven't fought half as hard as a should have for everyone. When I'm stronger, I promise I'll come back - I hate leaving unfinished business. You take care of yourself, you hear? There's so much happening - and I'm sure we haven't seen it all yet, even with Seraphim's death - and I'm concerned that the Tokyo psionics might become the focus of a new wave of attacks. There are far too many of us concentrated in one city - and far too much potential for that to be used against us.
Keep watch on the home front,
~D.
