His family lost honor when their ancient duel with the Shigai clan was quelled by Shogun Kukutsu's edict forbidding Daimyos to war. He has respected the Shogun's wishes, but now that the status of the Shogunate is shaky, tempers have flared between the Kyosho and Shigai clans. |

Shigai-Sama is the Daimyo of the Shigai clan, the Kyosho clan's ancient rivals. He has always been a bit of a trouble-maker, stirring up discontent as a result of the poor position his province is. However, he seems to be in the favor of the new Shogun Fukutsu. |
Ahimo Kiwa |

Ahimo-San is the leader of the local Zen Buddhist monastery. The alliance he has made with Daimyo Kyosho has been partly responsible for quelling the decline of that clan. |
Fukutsu Shosui

Fukutsu Shosui was the second in the line of Fukutsu Shoguns. His family has a military stranglehold on the imperial family, and so it was no surprise when Shosui was named Shogun upon his father's demise. It is whispered by many that the Fukutsu family has fallen into decadence under Fukutsu Shosui. Fukutsu Shosui was assassinated recently by a ninja. |
Fukutsu Homoto |

Fukutsu Homoto is Fukutsu Shosui's eldest son. For every share of venom that was whispered against his father, twice as many have been whispered about Homoto. He is a very effette individual who keeps company with young Kabuki boy actors. He is also close to the emporer, and was named Shogun promptly upon his father's death. |
Butshii Omozu |

Butshii is the son of a Buke family whose father died in battle before he could pass on all of his skills. Butshii wishes to be a great samurai swordsman someday -- but his skills aren't currently up to the task. He has taken up tutelage with the great swordsmaster Karita Tatetsu. |
Nagab Gymo |

Nagab Gymo is a vengeful bushi from a nearby clan. He found out where the ninja who killed his uncle (Tsugi Shinji) was hiding, and he and his brothers have sworn to avenge him. |
Sukmo Ichichi |

A Kensai in retainer to Daimyo Kyosho, a position which he vied for with Karita Tatesu. Since he won the post over Karita, Karita has gained much glory in his exploints. This has fueled thier rivalry even further. |
Taishiru Dabo |

The former kenjutsu instructor of Shogun Fukutsu Shosui. A superlative swordsman, he declined to enter the service of his master's son when he succeeded his father as Shogun. He feels that Homoto has shamed his father's name and has sworn to one day remove this stain on his former master's family honor. |
Noshi Clan |

The Noshi clan is considered the most honorable ninja clan among those who recognize any honor at all among ninja. They have served the Fukutsu Shogunate and Kyosho clan for many years. Recently, however, they have fallen from favor with the Shogunate and their destiny is intertwined with that of the faltering Kyosho clan. |
Koto Clan |

Ancient rivals of the Noshi clan, the Koto clan are one of a few ninja clans who sell their services non-exclusively. This has made them distrusted, even for ninja. It is said to be a Koto ninja who assassinated the Shogun Fukutsu Shosui recently. |
