Barry Sanders

Barry Sanders is possibly the very best running back in football history. He has accomplished so many things in his 10 year career. You will be amazed in some of the things he's done.

Barry was born on July 16, 1968  in Wichita, Kansas and also went to high school there. He has 7 sisters and 2 brothers. He also has a son. He went to Oklahoma State University were he majored in business administration. In college Barry set 13 NCAA records and won the Heisman Trophy in 1988.

Barry was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the third pick in the draft and won the Rookie of the Year Award in 1989. Barry is one of the smallest running backs ever. He is 5'8" and weighs about 200 pounds. In 1992 he broke the Lion's all-time rushing record and is still adding on to it. Last year he shared the NFL's MVP award with Green Bay's Brett Favre.

Barry is also the third player ever to rush for more than 2 thousand yards in a season. The only others to do that were Hall of Famers O.J. Simpson And Walter Payton. Barry has been playing for ten years and has been selected to the Pro Bowl 9 times. He has never been to the Super Bowl and has barely been to the playoffs. He also needs 2,948 more yards and he will be the NFL's all-time leading rusher. The man that holds that record is Walter Payton.

Barry hold 26 records altogether. 13 in college and 13 in the NFL. If  he scores one more touchdown he will own another record for most touchdowns by a running back. Barry is a very respected player. Even though he is the best he has never taunted another player, he has never done an end zone dance, and he's never even spiked the ball after scoring.

Barry might just be a football player, but he has changed the lives of many young football players and fans. He has encouraged kids to play harder and try to be like him. He also has started numerous charities. He is obviously one of the best and in years from now he will be a legend.
