Pict Warrior
THE PICT WARRIOR

The Picts were an ancient race of warriors who fought with great tenacity. Armor was still in its early stages then and the Picts adapted to whatever they found suitable for protection. The Pict featured in the graphic above wears a combination of leather and animal hide armor. Leather was heated and then tanned to produce a firm and resistant texture. Though it did not offer an abundance of protection, it was capable of warding off blows and attacks to a minimal degree. Animal hides were also treated to form a thick texture and these were usually worn under the leather to provide extra protection.

The two-handed sword across the Pict's back represents the style of weapon they preferred to use in battle. Picts also wore early forms of ringmail and scalemail.
