What Ike likes... When it comes to guitar selection Isaac is a Gibson guy, pure and simple. Why is that, you ask? Comfort and familiarity. The first guitar I ever had was a Gibson look-a-like, Ike says. It was a pawn shop guitar, and I got used to it. So when I replaced my first guitar I invested in the real thing - a black and gold Gibson Les Paul studio model. I’ve just continued playing Gibson’s ever since. I like the beefy sound you can get out of them... Good low end. For amplification, Ike chooses Matchless amplifiers. Matchless amps are very unique in their sound an versatility, he says. You can get a nice, clear tone out of it or a warm distortion without overdriving it too heavily, and without too much volume. You can also get tones out of a Matchless that are similar to Marshall or Fender amps, too. I just think they’re wicked.
