Description:

The strongman and a perky young sidekick search for a missing city.

Synopsis:

Three runners are searching for Hercules. One of them throws a scroll to another, then squats down by a stream to quench his thirst. As he drinks, a water sprite appears, and tells him that he came for Hercules, but has found his death. The water sprite then drags the man's head under the water, drowning him. As the other two men run on, they pass a boulder on a precarious perch. Hera causes the boulder to fall and start bouncing towards the man with the scroll. He throws it to the third man seconds before the boulder strikes him down. The third man runs onward.

A girl arrives at a pond to fill two jugs with water. After she fills her two jugs, she notices ripples in the water in the jugs. She looks up, screams, and runs. When she reaches the tavern, the owner angrily asks where the water is. The girl insists that a giant is coming, but the owner mocks her by stamping on the ground, asking if the giant's footsteps felt like this. Suddenly, the ground shakes and dishes and glasses fall off tables onto the floor. The girl says the giant walked like this. The giant rips the roof off, demanding Hercules fight him or he will kill everyone in the tavern. Hercules, who was eating lunch, removes his robe and presents himself.

Outside the tavern, Hercules tries to convince the giant to talk this over. The giant refuses, and hits him twice with his club. Hercules realizes that he'll have to fight him, and Hercules grabs the giant's club. He then uses it to poke the giant in the stomach, and hits the giant in the head with it. Hercules hops on top of the giant and stares him in the face. The giant threatens to kill him, and Hercules punches him in the face.

Inside the tavern, the tavern owner thanks Hercules for making his village famous. The last runner reaches the village. Hercules sees him, and the runner collapses in his arms. The runner says that he was the last of 100 runners sent from Troy to find him. He says that Hera drove the Trojans from their city and enveloped it in mist. Hercules gives the man some water to drink. After he does, the man dies and turns into dust.

Hercules finds Zeus, who was in the crowd watching Hercules fight the giant, and asks him how to get to Troy. Zeus is reluctant at first, but admits that Hercules must find the One True Compass that points to Troy, and that the king of Lydia has it.

As he travels on to find the Compass, he encounters a band of natives performing a virgin sacrifice to their water god. Hercules tells them that human sacrifices don't work, and that he has to get her down from there. The virgin doesn't want to go, but Hercules frees her by force. After rescuing her, Hercules tells the group that if doesn't rain, irrigate. Watching the whole scene is a man in a black cloak, the Blue Priest.

The virgin leaves with Hercules, and tells him her name is Deianeira. That night, Deianeira says that her father was a king who sent her away when his kingdom was threatened. Hercules replies that what she said is a well known fairy tale, and Deianeira tells him that orphans need fairy tales, too.

Early in the morning, Deianeira is awakened by the rustling of bushes. She tells whoever is in the bushes to reveal themselves. Hercules wakes up and asks who Deianeira was talking to. She replies that she was talking to nobody.

They reach Omphale's kingdom, but the guards refuse them entry into the city. Hercules tells them that Zeus sent him on a mission to talk to the king. The guards reply that the king has been dead for six years, and the queen only appears once a year at the Great Slave Market, which is today. Deianeira insults the guards, and they grab her so they can cut out her tongue, and Hercules is forced to fight them. Hercules knocks out six guards before he finds out there are forty-eight of them in all, and he decides to run.

Hercules and Deianeira climb the city walls to get in. One inside, Hercules needs to see the queen about the Compass. He convinces the auctioneer's assistant to put him up for sale for the day. While he is being auctioned, he sees the queen, and she sees him. She raises her hand, buying him for the day.

The auctioneer's assistant hands Deianeira a bag of money, and tells her to bring anymore Hercules like that to him. Later, she bangs the door of the castle; one of Omphale's slaves, Waylon, answers. She demands to know where Hercules is, and Waylon tells her that Hercules is busy for the forseeable future.

Deianeira wanders the streets, and ends up in a tavern frequented by Waylin. He invites her to his table. He and his friends tell her about the financial security of being a slave. The leader, Melus, and fellow goons of the local protection racket walks in and demands from the tavern owner his money. Deianeira walks in on the conversation and insults the leader for what he's doing. She asks how much he is owed, and she pays it to him. As the goons leave, Waylin tells her they'll just want double she paid them next week.

In the castle, Queen Omphale gives Hercules the One True Compass with a heavy heart; she'd hoped Hercules would stay with her.

Deianeira knocks on the castle door again, and steps inside to ask where Hercules is. She is thrown out right in front of Melus and his moon. Angry about last night, he tries to kill her but Deianeira escapes. Melus and his men chase her until Deianeira runs into a dead end. Anticipating an easy kill, Melus' goons move in but are beaten up by someone. Deianeira thinks its Hercules, but instead it is the Blue Priest, who has been following Deianeira her whole life. The Blue Priest tells her that wherever she goes, he follows, and disappears.

Back at the castle, Hercules reunites with Deianeira and prepares to leave. Deianeira says she's made plans for lunch at the tavern. During lunch, Melus and company threaten the tavern owner again. She says she can't pay it, and didn't pay it last time. Waylin asks why Melus can't leave people alone. Melus tries to hit him with a hammer, but Hercules wrestles it out of his hands and hits Melus with it. When the goons start attacking, Hercules makes short work of them, throwing a couple through the walls for good measure. Waylon thanks Hercules for saving his life. Hercules and Deianeira say goodbye to him, and Deianeira tells him not to be a slave his whole life.

That night, Deianeira tells Hercules about the Blue Priest who has followed her all her life. Deianeira talks with Hercules about who he is. She wonders if he's immortal because he's the son of Zeus. Hercules says that when the sun's up, he thinks he is; during the long sleepless nights, he's sure the next monster will get him. A snoring sound attracts Hercules' attention, and he investigates. He finds Waylin, who wants to be his slave. Hercules gives Waylin one command: serve Omphale for the rest of his life. Disappointed, Walyin says he'll dedicate his servitude to Hercules.

Hercules uses the Compass to find Troy. They end up at the seashore, where human sacrifices were offered a long time ago. As they stand there, the Blue Priest calls up the Blue Serpent, which devours them.

Inside the Serpent, Deianeira is sure her destiny is to be sacrificed to the gods. Hercules thinks the idea is crazy, and tries to find a way out. He hears the Serpent's heartbeats, and rips holes in the skin surrounding it. As he does this, a smaller being living inside the Serpent tries to attack Deianeira. Hercules finds the heart, then squeezes it until blood starts spurting out. He goes back to Deianeira, punches the thing attacking her, and they climb out of the Serpent and swim to the surface.

Hercules wakes up to find Deianeira staring at a city a distance aways from them. She tells him it is Troy, and that she remembers everything now. Walking through the woods towards it, a sentry, Telemon, captures them. Telemon tells them that though the Trojans live in the woods now, they will be exiles no more one day. At the makeshift city, Hercules and Deianeira are brought to the dying king of Troy. The king asks Telemon and Hercules to leave.

The king then tells Deianeira she is his daughter. When she was a little girl, Hera demanded her to be sacrificed to her Blue Serpent. The king refused, and sent Deianeira away. Hera was angry with him, and sent the Blue Cult to drive the Trojans from their city. He weeps, saying that he sacrificed all of Troy for one tiny girl. Deianeira comforts him, saying he sacrificed his heart to keep her alive. The king gasps, tells Deianeira, "I have what I want. The rest if yours," then dies. Deianeira cries over her father's death.

Deianeira emerges, saying that the king is dead. She introduces Hercules, and says he can help them fight for their city.

The Blue Priest tells a subordinate to prepare the sacrifical chamber.

Waylin is found by a Trojan, and brought before Deianeira. He says his true place is at Hercules' side as his slave. Waylin is told that slaves are not allowed in Troy, and that he is a free man.

Hercules trains the Trojans to fight. Later in the day, Hercules picks up a rock, and tells the Trojans that killing is hard. Before battle, they must become like the rock Hercules holds. He tells them that a rock has no mind and no heart; no hope and no fear. The people are determined to win back Troy.

As Hercules goes over battle plans that night, Deianeira enters the room. She tries to kiss him three times, which Hercules denies three times. Deianeira is hurt, and leaves.

The next day, Zeus asks Hercules if he really wants to do this. He warns Hercules, telling him that the Blue Cult is Hera's favorite. Hercules asks if Zeus can still fight. Zeus laughs, saying of course he can, and brings down a lightning bolt that burns an archery target to ashes. However, Zeus says he can do no more than that.

Deianeira sees the lightning bolt fry the archery target, and tells her people that Zeus is on their side. Hercules finds her, and tells her not to exect anymore lightning bolts.

That night, Hercules holds a conference with Deianeira and Telemon. He tells them to be prepared, since the fighting will be bloody. Deianeira leaves, thinking that she can't let her people do this. She calls out to the Blue Priest to help. He tells Deianeira to come to her.

Next morning Telemon looks in Deianeira's tent for her, only to find Hercules. The people find out that she is missing, and they all want to get her back. Hercules tells them to stay put; he alone will go to Troy. Telemon tells Hercules his plan is the coward's way. Telemon's statement reminds an old man of the cowherd's way, essentially a back door into Troy. The people leave for Troy.

Inside Troy, Hercules and the Trojans find it deserted. Hercules leaves to find Deianeira, and puts Telemon in charge of the others. Telemon shouts into the silence, "I am Telemon, warrior of Troy! Are these empty walls my only challenge?" and the warriors of the Blue Cult emerge.

Hercules finds two of the Blue Cult preparing Deianeira for sacrifice. Deianeira tells Hercules to leave her alone. One guard attacks him with a chain, the other with daggers. Hercules defeats them, but Deianeira has left to join the Blue Priest.

Waylin uses his warhammer and beats one of the warriors, and it deflates into nothing. With that, a melee breaks out.

The Blue Priest tells Deianeira that she was always meant to be sacrficed to Hera; "It is your destiny," he says. Deianeira realizes she was tricked into this when Hercules shows up. The Blue Priest throws out chains from his hands around Hercules' neck and body, and chokes him. "No more labors for you, Hercules," the Priest tells him. Hercules breaks his chains, and the Blue Priest attacks him. The Priest's sword destroys a statue holding a sword; Hercules takes this sword and beheads the Blue Priest. The Blue Priest rises again, and Hercules impales him on his sword and throws him over the castle parapet.

Zeus appears, and tells Hercules that Hera is supposed to win. With that, Hera raises Deianeira into the air. Hercules pulls her down, and tells Hera that the gods don't control anybody's destiny. Hera picks up Hercules, and raises him into the sky. Zeus assures Deianeira that Hera wouldn't hurt him, and tells Deianeira she has work to do.

Deianeira returns to find her people victorious. They accept her as their queen. Waylin says he initiated the attack because he obeyed his order like a good slave should. Deianeira tells him that he is no longer a slave, and so can work for the cause of Troy. She appoints Waylin minister of defense.

Back in Greece, Hercules falls with an earth-shaking thud. He has barely the time to shake the dust off of him when an old man tells Hercules that a fire-breathing monster is attacking his village.
