GEORGE WASHINGTON ODENEAL

   George Washington Odeneal was born about 1804 in Tennessee . He married Betsey MILBURN Jan. 4, 1826 in Tennessee. He was a farmer and had land first in Moniteau Co. and later in Cooper Co. near present day Otterville, MO. He was about 46 years old at his death from pnemonia in May of 1850, nothing more is know about the reason for the illness or where he is buried. He was one of the executors of his fathers estate. All his children are listed with his sister, Drusilla, in the 1850 census. On Feb 18, 1852 a widows dower was paid to Betsey and that is the last record found that mentions her. William J. becomes custodian for George W. Jr and Joseph, however Joseph lived with with his Aunt Drusilla until he married in 1870. He was living in Kansas with his family until 1910. Nothing more is known of them at this time.

    They had at least eight children; Margaret who married John B. Alsworth, William Jefferson who married Helen Summerfield Fletcher, Ellen who married John Wolf, a daughter who probably died in infancy, George Washington Jr, another daughter who probably died in infancy, Elizabeth Odeneal who married James Barlow, and Joseph W. who married Martha Knott.
    A John Allworth is living with Ellen Wolf in the 1870 MO census.  She has two daughters. From this it maybe that Margaret is deceased and also John Wolf.  Marriages of the two daughters have not been found.
    George Washington Jr. is believed to have moved to Texas by 1860, served in the Civil War, Co C 16th Texas Calv. and in the AL Calv., and married and had a family. He listed in Oklahoma Twp, Oklahoma Co., Oklahoma in the1900 census, single at that time, but a niece Lee living with him. He is last listed in Oklahoma in the1910 census, widower, and living alone.  It is possible that his descendants changed the spelling of the name to O'Neill.
    Elizabeth and James Barlow have not been found after the record of their marriage.
    Joseph's wife, Martha, died in 1921 and he died before 1930.  They had five daughters, but no descendants have been found at this time.

    The known descendants of George Washington Odneal are currently traced through William Jefferson.
