Abe Carver's brother, Jonah, a med student, delivered his first baby, in a taxicab. Abe's wife, Lexie, wanted to have a child, too, but voiced serious concerns that the world was too troubled to raise children.

As if in answer to her call for a crime cleanup, a vigilante, dubbed "The Pacifier," went to work in Salem. Lexie soon found out Jonah was the Pacifier, and when she was unable to dissuade him, tried to protect him. When they were found out, Lexie was thrown off the police force and Jonah had to leave the hospital. =====
