WESTLIFE 2012 Back in 1999, a young enthusiastic wannabe journalist was backstage at the 2fm Beat on the Street, in Cork. There were some new bands due to take to the stage, one in particular waws of interest to this young Journalist, as they were managed by Louis Walsh, the man who brought us Boyzone. This band were called IOU and besides one Interview I had seen previously in the RTE guide, this was the first time I had heard much about them. 3 Lads from Sligo, 2 from Dublin, and a very charming tour manager (whatever happened to him?). There were some water guns back stage and after the obligitary water fight (we WERE all only about 18) it was time to settle down and interview this new 5 piece, then known as IOU , but soon to undergo a name change and become the worldwide sensations we all know as Westlife! Irishpop.net was the website that provided Westlife with their first ever website, and also published that interview from way back when ! This Saturday, Westlife will be performing their last (ever?) concert in Dublin's Croke Park, where tears are sure to roll, both on stage and in the Audience. The Westlifers will all be following separate dreams- and surely we can't begrudge them it after 13 years of hits and touring all over the world! irishPOP will be at the gig on Saturday and will update all our readers about the emotional highs and lows that are sure to be a feature of the evening ! sob.....

irishPOP.net will be adding Theatre Highlights, Book Reviews, Comedy club gigs and much much more in the near future- if you want to be a part of the action get writing to shady@irishpop.net !

* Exclusive interviews * Pictures you won't find elsewhere * Backstage gossip * General Madness and home and abroad! *
