The following is a concert review told by Kristan (not me)
. Last night, July 18, 1998, I went to a HANSON concert. It was soooooo cool!
Let's see, it started out when we were driving to Red Rocks Amphitheater. A white car passed us and on the back windshield was a sign that said, "HANSON ROCKS!" and on one of the back passenger windows was another sign that said, "HONK IF YOU LIKE HANSON!" Kara, who I was going with, made her parents honk, and as we passed that car, we waved to the passengers.
We got to Red Rocks shortly after, with half an hour to spare before the concert. We found our seats in the 60th row, but Kara and I wanted better seats, and lucky for us, there were free seats in the forty-seventh row.
The concert opened up with a reggae band and the Admiral Twins from Tulsa. Everyone enjoyed the opening, but afterwards, we all shouted, "HANSON, HANSON, HANSON....." you get the picture.
Twenty five minutes later, Hanson came on and everyone, and I mean EVERYONE screamed.
Zac was wearing his typical Zac outfit: his orange pants and a black t-shirt, Taylor: a light green t-shirt and blue jeans, and Isaac was wearing a light gray shirt and blue or black jeans.
We could not stop screaming! I mean, our screams didn't even have a fuse. They just continually exploded from our mouths. "You guys are definitely one of our loudest crowds!" Isaac had said. Then Taylor said something, but I'm not completely sure what it was, due to all the screaming.
They started with some oldies, and then came "Where's the Love." After "Where's the Love," Isaac said, "Well, I would say thank you, but you guys would probably scream." Of course, we did.
They continued with some more of their great Hanson hits. The next one, I think, was Madeline. Tay started that one with, "Is there anyone named Madeline out in that crowd? If there is, this song goes out to you!" And they started it. After a few more songs, (sorry, I can't remember the order) they did "Story time." They sang "Stories", "Soldiers", and a few others.
The songs they played during the entire concert were,
"Thinking of You",
"MMMBop",
"Weird",
"Speechless",
"Where's the Love",
"Look at You",
"I Will Come to You",
"A Minute Without You",
"Madeline",
"With You In Your Dreams",
"Man From Milwaukee",
"River",
"Stories",
"Sometimes",
"Soldier"
,
"Summertime Blues",
"Good Lovin'",
"Gimme Some Lovin'",
and a lot of others. They even sang a few extra songs for us because we were one of the most enthusiastic crowds they had seen. I screamed so much, I'm surprised my voice isn't completely gone! I just could not stop screaming. I rocked along with every song, and had the greatest time of my life!
Taylor started "Good Lovin'" by saying,"The next song we're going to sing was first released as a single..." Tay was interrupted by explosive cheering. We all thought he was talking about "MMMBop."
"Whoa, you guys know this song?" Tay joked."Well then, let's start." We were sort of disappointed when he started "Good Lovin'" instead of "MMMBop", but we recovered quickly and rocked along through the entire song.
Then, during one song, I don't remember which it was, Taylor took over drums, and Zac pulled out a spray gun and started squirting people in the audience.
That made the people in the front row go wild. We were jumping around, and clapping and singing through every song we knew. Through "Summertime Blues",
Taylor encouraged us to sing along with the chorus. "THERE AIN'T NO CURE FOR THE SUMMER TIME BLUES!" was what we sang. It was so cool, and I never wanted them to leave.
Well, of course they had to, and they ended with part of "Weird", and Taylor said, "You guys were one of the awesomest crowds we've seen."
We all screamed and cheered, when they left. It was the coolest concert I'd ever been to in my entire life!
Peace, love, and Hanson,
Kristan
