She Waits

She waits at a window,
For a day that will never come.
She waits for a car,
That will never drive by.
She waits for a person,
Who will never arrive.
She waits for a man,
Who will never walk through the door.
She waits for someone,
To take her in their arms.
She waits for him to tell her
"I love you."
She waits for her husband,
Who will never get home.
She waits for a man,
Buried five miles away.

And still she waits.
