An Unwelcome Visitor

by Jaime

Willow clicked away at her computer mindlessly, waiting for Xander to show up. Since Oz had band practice, Xander had offered to take her to the Bronze. Cordelia was meeting them there. Looking down at one of her many pictures of him, Willow thought about Oz. She could remember the first time he had complimented her, saying she had the sweetest smile. Just remembering it made her cheeks flush with happiness. Suddenly, the doorbell rang. < Xander’s here. Time to snap out of I t> Willow bounded down the stairs, and opened the door. To her surprise, instead of Xander, it was Oz standing there!

"Um, hi Oz…" Willow stuttered. < Stupid! Even when we’re going out I can hardly talk to him! >

"Hey Will." Oz replied, in a voice he hoped sounded cool. < It’s weird. We are so comfertable together, but we still have the awkward pauses! >

"So..how come you’re here? I thought Xander was picking me up, since you had practice."

"Oh, I managed to talk Devon out of it, and anyways, I called Xander to say I’d be picking you up. He seemed pretty cool about it. Except that he mentioned having to drive with Cordelia now?" Oz explained himself, this time with ease. < There we go. No more weird hesitation stuff… >

"Oh, cool. So, what do you want to do? I’m not really up for Bronzing tonight, if you don’t mind."

"No prob. I brought over a few movies…as long as you don’t mind scary movies…." Oz said with a wicked grin.

"Who me?" Willow replied, with mock surprise. "hey, we live on the Hellmouth here, Oz! A few movies couldn’t scare moi! What did ya bring?"

"I’ve got…Scream, The Shining, Dracula…."

"Oh, now that’s in poor taste." Willow teased him, cutting in.

"And some werewolf flick." He finished. < Well, at least I know she isn’t afraid of werewolves. I mean, I did almost eat her and all…. > Laughing, Willow put her arms around his neck, and began to kiss him. At first he wasn’t sure how to react, but soon he returned her kisses eagerly. Realizing that they were still on the front porch, Oz broke away. < Wow. I wish THAT happened more often. Willow and I hardly ever kiss… >

"We’re um….we’re on the porch." He explained.

"Oh, of course.." Willow giggled. She grabbed his hand and pulled him inside. Oz was now familier with her house, he had been there so many times. He was lucky, Willow’s parents really seemed to like him. < I wonder if Willow’s mom is home? Or her dad… > As if reading his mind, Willow said, "Don’t worry, my parents aren’t home." She was very close now, and Oz could feel her warm breath on his cheek. He put his arms around her waist and kissed her again, this time, as almost a peace offering. They soon pulled apart and went to the t.v. room.

"You didn’t really get those movies, did you Oz?"

"No," Oz replied grinning. "But I did get Scream…"

"Oh good, I haven’t seen that. Is it scary?"

< It’s so funny. She isn’t scared of vampires, werewolves, demons, or living on the Hellmouth, but a she thinks a movie may be too scary. > Oz laughed to himself.

"What’s so funny?" Willow wondered.

"Oh, nothing. So, still up for the movie?"

"Of course." Willow replied, sticking the movie into the VCR.

"So Giles, what’s up tonight? Any demons threatening to take over the world lately?" Buffy asked the tweed-clad librarian, only half kidding.

"Well, act...actually, Buffy, there is this one thing…" Giles stutterend in response.

"Dammit! I had a date with Angel. What the hell is it this time? Vampires? Werewolves? Oh, shit, don’t tell me. It’s Oz’s time of the month again."

"No, no, something quite different, actually. See, it says here…." Giles replied, holding up a large, dusty book for her to read. Buffy snatched it away and read what he had been pointing to. Her eyes grew wide as she read, and Giles, reading her mind, nodded.

"I…I see. So when can we expect this…this thing to come?"

"Well, that is the problem. We really have no way of knowing. All we do know is that it will strike someone close to you."

"Find Xander…oh, he’s probably in some closet with Cordelia…..SHIT! Where’s Willow??!!"

*******************

The shadowed figure slithered up to the window, looking in on the two teenagers. The girl, who’s fiery red hair was piled upon her head, clung to the dark haired boy. He could not see their faces, but it was them. Or more precisely, HER. He could sense that. Nearly grinning to himself, he disappeared into the foliage surrounding the house.

Willow snuggled up closer to Oz, awaiting the killer’s attack. Although she know it was coming, Willow was sure it would frighten her.

Oz looked down at Willow, who had burrowed her head into his shoulder. < I am so lucky to have her…who could want a better girlfriend? > It was Oz’s personal favorite part of the movie. Drew Barrymore was on the phone with the killer, and he had just asked her which door she thought he was at.

< I just know this part is going to be scary….why did I agree to watch this? It is only 10 minutes into the film, and I’m scared!! >

Suddenly, the killer crashed through Drew Barrymore’s window, and Willow let out a scream. Unfortunately, it wasn’t because of the movie….

"God DAMMIT Willow…where ARE you?" Buffy muttered under her breath, scanning the Bronze for her friend. She noticed Devon, the lead singer from Oz’s band sitting at a table with 2 adoring fans, who looked like freshmen. Buffy smiled to herself, remembering when she was that age. She wondered why Devon cared about them, he was a senior like Oz. < Oh yah, he just loves the attention > Buffy rolled her eyes, and walked over to his table.

"Hey…..Buffy is it?" Devon welcomed her happily. "Care to join us?"

"Um, no, Devon. I’m not a groupie. I was just wondering, do you know where Oz is?"

"Oh, yah. He bailed on us to hang with Willow. I thought he was going to her house.."

Devon attempted to pull Buffy closer by putting an arm around her waist. It was then that she realized how drunk he was. < I wonder just how reliable his version of the story is…oh well. I should have checked Will’s house first! Stupid! >

"Um, thanks Devon. I have to go…tell Oz I’m looking for him, if you see him." With that, Buffy half walked, half jogged out of the bronze. She was greeted by Giles’ clunker of a car sputtering at the door.

"Willow’s house." She said hopping into her Watcher’s car. "NOW!"

Now inside the girl’s house, the demon smiled to himself. Although he had had to break through a window to get in, the pain didn’t bother him anymore. Soon he would have the Slayer. And that was all he needed.

**************

"What the hell IS that?" Willow shrieked, pointing at the giant monster that had jumoed through her window.

"I…I don’t know…" Oz stuttered. "It..it looks like…a snake."

"Yah, only with big teeth, arms, and..and…oh GOD Oz, what is that smell?"

"Um, I don’t think we should stick around and find out.." Grabbing her hand, Oz ran out of the room dragging Willow with him.

"Not sssso fassssst…" The snake hissed, blocking their path.

**************

Buffy rung the doorbell of the Rosenburg’s house. < Come, on, Come ON! Willow, answer the damn door. What the hell?! What’s that sound? >

Backing up to break down the door, Buffy suddenly blacked out. Before she sank to the ground, she felt a sharp pain in the back of her head.
