FIRST TIME VISITOR?
HERE'S HOW TO...
Recommended: Print a copy of this page to keep handy as you
work.
1. Use the Table of Contents...
There are two almost identical table of contents pages on this site.
Why, you ask?
Good question! The original
t.of c. page is ( I think) fairly attractive, but as the site
began to grow the page began to slow--not bad, but a little slow in loading.
Hence, the 'faster-loading'
t. of c. page--plain Jane, vanilla. Later, the 'paw-prints'
were added across the top of the page to make it even more convenient and
faster.
They are simply quick links to the most-trafficked pages of the site.
There may occasionally be an important announcement at the top of the
page.
Everything after that is alphabetized. The Chatrooms are all listed in
the "C" area.
All the SCULPTURE links (to articles and photographs both) are grouped
together
in one large block in the "S" area.
2. Register with this website and be listed in the JHS Address Book...
Simply send an email to Jerry Phillips by clicking HERE.
Include your name, snail mail address, phone, class year, (and maiden name).
Indicate if there is any information which
you DO NOT want posted on the internet, such as your phone. You needn't
have graduated
from Jal to join the address book. You needn't have even been a Jal student;
but if you were,
knowing your class year will help us to group you with your friends.
3. Sign up for the Panther Tracks Newsletter...
You must sign up for the newsletter yourself.
I cannot 'put you on the list'...the system
is designed to protect your privacy and will not allow me to add other
people's names.
Go to the Jal Website's table of contents...Panther
Tracks Newsletter Sign-Up.
PLEASE READ ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE BLUE PAGE, FIRST.....like
placing your class year in the 'company name' slot........ladies, be sure
to include your maiden name (in parentheses) in either the first or last
name box.
After you sign up you will receive a confirmation email from ListBot. When you receive the email, simply reply to it using your 'Reply' button. This will activate the system and place your name on the list.
An alternative route for signing up is at "Newsletter" in
the table of contents.
Bold text reads--"IMPORTANT, All Jalites, etc....."
Note: Signing up for the newsletter DOES NOT guarantee
that your address information will be posted in the JHS Address Book. For
that, you must send the information in an email...
(see #2 above.)
4. Use the website message boards...
We have many messageboards on the site for your interactive participation.
Message Board...the main board for general communications.
GuestBook...if you'd like to leave a note after visiting the site.
Gary A's Sports Page...an 'archive only' site at the present time.
JalapeƱos...Reminisce about Jal on this board, with your host Mary
Grayce Wright.
There are other boards on the site: The Classified Ads, The Best of J.H.S.,
and possibly a couple others where you can voice your ideas or opinions.
( I really can't keep up with them all.)
There's a new page "Memories" which honors past teachers Your
contribution to the
Mrs. Marshall messageboard (our first one) would be appreciated.
The MOST FUN message boards, which we are just beginning to use (thanks to Becky Drury Cejka, class of '67), are at the ClassMates.com site outlined below...
UPDATE: 05/28/00......the ClassMates.com boards
have never really caught on, perhaps
because it takes so long to get into the site, and once you get there it
responds very slowly.
The Eunice folks really use their ClassMates site, probably because that's
what they started with and became comfortable with it. However, you won't
find much going on at the Jal ClassMates site.
5. Use the ClassMates.com site, with its fun message boards for JAL and EUNICE ...
( Eunice is way ahead of us on this, and they're having a blast.)
PLEASE CHECK THIS OUT, AND ADD SOME MESSAGES OF YOUR OWN.
This may look complicated, but just follow instructions...It's well
worth it !
(Again, print this page and keep it handy while doing this)
TO GO TO THE JAL MESSAGE BOARD:
First, read all of this...then click on the above link to ClassMates
when you're ready to go.

6. Use the Chat Rooms...
As stated earlier, the table of contents pages begin with some 'important
stuff', followed by
the JHS Address Book...then the Chat Rooms. Each chat room link has
detailed instructions
for use. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. The Sunday evening chats are now being
held in the Xoom-Room, which is faster and easier to use.
Anyone have any suggestions for other "instructions" to be placed on this page???
