MISS DRYIN SAN DOC "SANDY" is a 14h 2", 1994 Chestnut Mare. She is currently being shown in Cutting events by David George. "SANDY" was purchased as a weanling. She has had the same owners since her purchase. She loves cattle work. Her expression is beautiful. She looks like her Great-granddam POCO LENA.
The note below shows the DETERMINATION & HEART this little mare has!
"Sandy" was injured as a three year old. She was playing with other horses in the pasture, and slid into and flipped over a barbed wire fence. Fortunatly the incident was witnessed and help was called immediatly. Our Veterinarian spent several hours in the pasture sewing this mare back together. "Sandy" had only bone and ligaments showing on her right foreleg. The front muscle was torn 3/4 of the way down to her knee joint. This muscle could not be saved. She also had cuts on two other legs, much less severe. Our hope was that she would survive and be able to at least be a broodmare. After only one month we could see the leg was healing! Much time and effort were put into keeping the leg clean and infection free. After 8 weeks her leg was healed!! Now we started to walk her on the walker, both directions. Gradually building up her time. We had the man who trained her to ride come back for three days, to see if she had any lameness while being ridden. No lameness! She went back to the Cutting Trainer 3 months after her injury. She was her "old self". Not a lame step! She stayed for a few months, then came home for the winter.
Now,an eight year old, "Sandy" continues cutting cattle. This little mare has more heart and desire than any horse I have ever seen.
We have also added ELECTRIC fencing around our pasture, hopefully to try and prevent another horrible accident.

December 2002 Update NCHA Money Earner ACHA Money Earner ACHA Certificate of Merit AQHA Point & Money Earner American Kiamichi Cutting Horse Association 10,000 Novice Horse Class--TOP 5 Year 2000 American Cutting Horse Association World Show Qualifier Year 2000 and 2001 "Sandy" was shown in the High School Rodeo Association by Christen Allen the 2001 season. Christen Qualified for the Nationals.
