My corruptness (if that's even a word) has increased since I switched from clarinet to tuba. I have at least 5 nicknames ranging from Tuba Chick to Hey Sexy! to Tinkerbell (thanks Kelly). Some good questions for this would be the following: Did you meet your significant other in the opposing band at a football game? ...A competition? ...In another state? Many people in my own band have hooked up with non-Carroll band members. I myself have a tuba love in IN. It's a sure sign that you're a "band-ho" if you become involved with someone you met while changing into your uniform. It's even worse if you celebrate their first place victory over your own band! |

Last year our seniors were(gasp) horrible leaders. They had this lovely tradition of stealing something from every football game and competition we went to. They eventually had a collection of parking cones and traffic barriers, bathroom signs from London/Heathrow Airport, a 40pound sewer grate a junior stole, and much much more. Also, our drummers decided to throw their drum sticks through the ceiling tiles in our practice rooms. The final straw was when the wires hanging down from where a clock was missing where sparked together. This shorted the circuits, blowing the fuse, causing all clocks in the school to stop! We were banned from our own Auditorium(the practice rooms are in back of it), our trip to Quebec was canceled, and inschools were assigned. Last year, the police also visited bandcamp. During bandcamp we ahve soak sophomore day where we throw people in to the showers and chase them with supersoakers. The one senior chased another with a supersoaker XP300 and yelled at him alot. The next day the cops showed up, and here he had filed a complaint of verbal abuse against the one with the super soaker. It was a joke from then on whenever we saw a cop car. Ohwell, maybe you could add some of this to your test.... |

I'm glad to see our test is getting such a great response. However, I'm getting a little disgruntled about these requests for "concert" band tests or "complete" band tests. The name of the test is "Marching Band Purity Test". We made it on what we know about and love. That's not to say we completely hate concert band...but the fact of the matter is, we don't love it either. It's just not the same. I realize that to some of you woodwinds, you're getting the shaft on that, but that's the nature of your instrument. We're not going to make an Orchestra purity test either...big suprise. If you want one, make one. They're not all that hard to make, but ours is a MARCHING BAND and DRUM CORPS test, pertaining to those activities. This is the statement that we have summed it up with: "...there really isn't anything in concert band that's universal with all other concert bands, other than you play all the same music. Marching band...is not just you go and play music and march...it's a place of drama and pain and all sorts of other emotions that I don't care what kind of concert band you have, you are NEVER, EVER going to have all these experiences there." That's all there is, there is no more. Deal. |

I have participated in unbelievably outstanding to completely forgettable musical endeavors, from marching in a butt-kicking military-style high school band (which usually concerned itself with more important matters, like playing great music), to waving my arms in front of a senior corps. Regarding the latter, the judges remarked at finals that they'd never HEARD 18 horns max out a stadium! P.S. Kane--all West Virginians don't talk like THAT!!! We also wear shoes... |

I've marched three years with the Southern Illinois University (the REAL one: Carbondale) Marching Salukis, as rowdy and obnoxious a bunch as you'll find anywhere. I'm also a percussionist, and I don't understand why I scored as so "pure" on the test (71.1% :P ). Drumlines are always the raunchiest of the lot. Maybe it's because I don't fit in with the group (any of them). |

Our fight song is "fight on" (the USC fight song, since my band actually consits of USC maniacs. Last year, one of the juniors came to practice in all black with a sign that said something really gross about the bruins after the USC/UCLA game. you guys won't want to know what it was!!)I think our band is cool,(i didnt say we were good, i said we were cool.)and all of my best friends are in it, so its really fun. Well, I just got back from a parade, and I'm beat and i goota clean my shoes and all that post-band crap, so I'm gonna go.
