Club Minutes - September 2001
Picnic
David asked for a consensus regarding a club picnic or consider the function held at his home mid summer as the annual picnic. E-mails were sent to members regarding a picnic, but no response. By a note of hands, all those present agreed not to schedule a picnic.
Beverly provided information about a music festival in Alabama October 5, 6, and 7 downtown Mobile. Music guest include Lakeside, Cameo, Average White Band, Freddie Jackson and more (see schedule of events at www.bayfest.com).
Jazz Ma Tazz will donate two baskets for Thanksgiving to a needy family. We are asking members to bring can goods, perisable items, and cash to the October and November meeting. Penny and Richetta are on the committee.
The location for an annual Christmas Party has not been decided, however participation from members are needed for the event. Beverly declined to chair the event but will assist Odette, E.C. Coffey, and Karen Lodrig agreed to work on the committee.
The position of membership chairperson has been filled by Shelia Smith. The function (duties) involve soliciting and providing new members with application and literature. Computer knowledge is preferred.
Cherlyn provided a financial report for club dance, some tickets and monies remain due. There were some discussion about Captain Charles name being printed on the tickets and another DJ performed at the function.
Bereavement
David White welcomed James Varnado back after the death of his mother. James expressed sincere appreciation for prayers and flowers sent by Jazz Ma Tazz.
Matt presented a hand out sheet of available lodging. Eight rooms remain available. Matt urges members to contact him, other wise the club will return the pillows. The cost of registration $ 225.00, so far only 30 members are registered, please remember there are limited space. Jazz Ma Tazz is expected to work security during the summit.
David expressed appreciation to Verna Age for allowing the club to hold meetings at Reliable Home Health for the past 4 years. Matt Sims was given kudos for acquiring the Liberty Center where future meetings will be held.
