(LDS batch 8435480 call 1395927, sheet 2) The problem could also be the use of different calendars, interpreting handwritting or typographical errors. I am mostly interested in beginning with the first immigrant to the Americas.

Buried: alleged Bush River, no tombstone found when cemetery was
cataloged. In 1997 the cemetery was quite overgrown and I
could not locate my Wil(l)son ancestors whose stones were
cataloged.

24, 1762 at the Wigton MM, Cumberlandshire, England. (Note:

I believe John Furnas is the son of Thomas Furnas and Rebecca Atkinson. Other listed dates of birth for him are: March 1, 1734 in Wigton and Feb. 26, 1736 in Wigton. According to family legend, John Furnas was a younger son of Lord Furnas of England, who came to America because he would not inherit the family fortune or lands. I'm not sure this is anything more than a myth. John emigrated from Standingstone with his wife Mary in 1763. I was unable to locate Standingstone. A video produced by the Furnas Families of America show it right next to Wigton. John and his wife arrived in Charleston, South Carolina on Feb. 18, 1763. According to the family oral history their first son was born while they were still on the ship as it lay anchored in the harbor. John Furnas is listed as an early Quaker settler connected with the Bush River MM in Newberry District, Union Co, SC. This is located in mid-west South Carolina. In one book John Furnas is listed as having lived at Spring Field, settling next to Samuel Kelly. The South Carolina census for 1800 lists Joseph, John, and Thomas W. Furnas in the Newberry District, and Robert in Union District. Another reference lists John Furnas, 100 acres Berkly Co., granted Oct 25, 1764.

Robert was 5 when his father died and 10 when his mother died. Perhaps the children went to live with relatives or were taken in by Quaker neighbors. Robert is listed in the 1800 census as a resident of Union Co. (#227, 00110-20100-00)
Robert made a "prospecting tour to Ohio, making the round trip on horseback, a great portion of which was through an unbroken forest; after examining several localities, he selected the tract of land". Robert and his family left Cane Creek MM, SC, after April 23, 1803. They were received into the Westland MM in Ohio on August 27, 1803. The family " commenced to open out a farm, amid all the many trials and deprivations of pioneer life of that day and locality, often compelled to subsist for days on hominy and venison, being unable to get grain manufactured into flour and meal, the nearest mill being thirty miles distant through forest, the roads to which were mere paths that could only be traveled by horseback; in 1812, as there was no market nearer, he drove a large lot of hogs to Baltimore, Md- no small undertaking; but he lived to see those vast forests give place to waving fields of grain and thriving towns..." (both quotes X-841) Robert is listed as an original member of the Miami MM. He is listed as a the first clerk and elder of the inferior meeting of the Miami meeting known as Caesar's Creek. The Caesar Creek MM was offically "openned" May 26, 1810. (U-674) He and his family are recorded as attending over the years meetings at West Branch, Union, Center and Fairfield.
