"Why The Pansy"

During Easter weekend 2001 the weather was very cool - I had purchased pansies to plant & give as Easter gifts to family & friends. Over the long holiday weeked I was feeling progressivly ill & lethargic. Trying to keep up my holiday spirit I forced myself to go outside to plant & deliver the pansies.Feeling better at times & worse again was a puzzle that was finally solved.

Having our woodstove burning with improper ventilation, I was suffering carbonmonoxide poisoning. If I had not forced myself to go out with the pansies, only God knows what would have been.

Telling the best friends in the world my story, they decided to declare the Pansy our "Grannie Flower" - I feel very honored & blesed to have such wonderful friends. ~ Barbara ~

After Barb telling us her story Carol had a beautiful Pansy sig on her email. I ask her to send me the URL, then Glo did the graphics with her computer. That's all I needed for a tshirt!!!!

Sometime in early March, talk of a gathering in NY took place. And that's all it took. But we had to decide when and where this would be. The next thing we knew we were going to Carolyn and Leo's in Clyde, NY!!! And the "lists" started!! :)

Barb and George had arrived Thursday afternoon so they took a ride out to see Carolyn and Leo.

Jim and I had flown into Buffalo on Wednesday and awaiting our arrival was Glo and Dennis. They drove from Rochester to pick us up. Little did they know that they were getting paid back for their late arrival in MO!!!! LOL You see, our flight was 4 hours late!!! So at 2 AM on Thursday, we were HUGGING!!

Thursday morning Glo picked us up at the motel and we had the pleasure of meeting the rest of her family, the "kids"!! They made us feel right at home. It was like being with our own four!!!!

They even allowed me to use the WebTv!! LOL Later on that morning Dennis cooked breakfast for all of us, what a guy!!!

We hung out there all day chatting and catching up. Later that evening Glo and I were going to the Rochester airport to pick up Judy(jazzygma) and Arlene(burch4). All of the planning was coming together!!!

After getting Judy settled in her motel, we went back to the airport to get Arlene, now you didn't think they were landing together did you?? haha Then went back to Glo's, got the men and went to dinner. After dinner they dropped us off at our motels.

Friday morning it was back to Glo's to meet her mom, Jan!!!

Jan was going with us and was driving her new beautiful RV. We loaded up and were off to Clyde!!! Slowly but surely we all arrived safe and sound.

The setting at their place is absolutely beautiful!! Their little house is surrounded by trees and there is a river flowing right next to them. There is a sense of peace there.

When we arrived Carolyn and Leo were there with open arms to greet each and every one of us. OH the HUGS, there are just never enough, when Grannie's are together!!

There was "talk" and more "talk". Leo showed the men around the place while some of us started to put out some food for lunch. To some sitting around and on the porch would be a boring time, but let me tell you this was far from boring. It was the most relaxing time ever!!

Friday evening we had made plans to eat out, since most had travled all day to get there. Carolyn and Leo had made arrangements with a small local restaurant that had room for 23 people. To help, I had written everyone's order on tickets, that I took from work I might add!! At 4:30 that afternoon Leo took Jim and I to the restaurant so the owners could have our orders in advance.

We had also bought a cake we had to deliver, it was a surprise cake. August 1st was a very special couple's anniversary and we didn't want to miss the chance to wish them the very best. Were Bee and Carl surprised?? OH YES!!!! I just love surprises!!! haha

After dinner we headed back to the house so we could "talk" somemore!!! I can't think of any group I have ever met that can ever get enough of each other!! Altho during one conversation that weekend some said that if we were neighbor's we probably would not have the same "connection" we all seem to share.

Later that evening one by one we headed to our motel rooms in Auburn, looking forward to Saturday and another day of Grannie Love!!!!
