SUPPORTING CAST

Caledon Hockley.....BILLY ZANE

Every good epic needs a villian, and this character is TITANIC'S. Caledon Hockley is the rich, arrogant heir to a steel fortune. He is engaged to Rose at the beginning of the film, that is before Jack steals her heart. He will do anything to keep Rose in his clutches, but she ultimatly breaks free.

Molly Brown......KATHY BATES

Countess of Rothes....ROCHELLE ROSE

Ruth Dewitt Bukater...FRANCES FISHER

In this scene, Molly, Ruth, and the Countess are walking along the deck of TITANIC gossipping and catching up on the times. As they are walking they run into Jack and Rose, who are spitting off the side of the ship. Ruth is horrified to not only see her daughter behaving this way, but also to see her with Jack. The other women, however, are very interested in Jack and in the way that he saved Rose's life the previous evening.

Second Officer Lightoller....JONATHAN PHILLIPS

Fourth Officer Boxhall.......SIMON CRANE

First Officer Murdoch........EWAN STEWART

Captain Smith................BERNARD HILL

Third Officer Pittman........KEVIN DE LA NOY

Fifth Officer Lowe...........IOAN GRUFFUDD

The crew of TITANIC were responsible for keeping their passengers safe and keeping the ship afloat. However, on the fourth day of the journey things went horribly wrong and the ship struck an iceberg. In the film, the portrayers of the crew members were chosen because they looked a lot like the actual person. This is especially true for the captain. Bernard Hill is a dead ringer for the actual Captain Smith.

Brock Lovett.....BILL PAXTON

Old Rose.........GLORIA STUART

Lizzy Calvert....SUZY AMIS

Bill Paxton, Gloria Stuart and Suzy Amis make up a large part of the present day cast. Stuart stars as the old Rose who is determined to bring her past to light. She tells us the story of TITANIC as she saw it 84 years before. Everything we see in the 1912 part of the story is strictly from old Rose's memory. She is speaking of the TITANIC accident for the first time since it happened. Lizzy was never aware that her grandmother sailed on this great ship before the day she tells all to TITANIC explorer Brock Lovett.

Forget Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, the real star of this epic movie was the ship herself. The 1912 ship that is, in all her regal glory. Here she proudly floats across the ocean as the people on her are oblivious to the danger that awaits them.
