Originally, I designed this web page to be a chess tournament, but as that has become unmanageable, I have made this into a chess club where interested people can meet and play chess.
This club will be divided into four divisions: novice, beginner, intermediate, and advanced.
Players will be paired up as soon as possible. I send you the name and e-mail of your opponent, and after that, the opponents should communicate with each other directly. After a game is concluded, players should get the results to me as soon as possible, posted in the Algebraic format. There may be some delay in the first match and the subsequent matches, but that is to be expected.
One note, there is no prize for winning, other than meeting new opponents and finding something to do on the side.
The rules to this club are simple. The first one is that players should act in good faith. No special books with tactics or strategies (beginner's books are okay), no computer programs other than logging software (see the Shareware section below. Secondly, I don't expect players to break up their schedules for this club, but players should at least be as prompt as possible with their responses.
There is a lot of shareware out there about the game of Kings. While I have not located Deep Blue's exact web site, I do have one piece of shareware that I like. It is called Waxman Chess, and it logs your moves as well as those of your opponents. You just have to download the Waxman zipped archive located on my site.
I don't have many links on my site, but one site that has impressed me is U.S. Chess. Not only do they have tons of information about chess tournaments around the nation, but their layout is very impressive. If you know of any sites out there, please let me know by e-mailing me at jlmeyer2@hotmail.com.
Well, enough chatter, time to sign on in for the club. Please fill in the following questions and sign on up.
