INCIDENT:

Two comrades Lalith de Silva and Sunil Jayaratne were pasting publicity posters for the public rally due on 23rd. Comrade Sunil Jayaratne who is the JVP member in the Wariyapola Local Council is also a candidate in the forthcoming Provincial Council election.

When the two comrades were pasting posters, at the Kelimune junction several supporters of PA have arrived in a red cab belongs to S.B. Navinna, the chief minister candidate of the People's Alliance. The PA supporters led by "Padeniye Raja" have assaulted the JVP members and threatened them pointing their pistols. The thugs have taken away the posters, adhesive pulp and brushes.

Incident- 02

DATE: 29th OF DECEMBER 1998

TIME: 10.00AM

INCIDENT:

Comrades of Anamaduwa JVP Election campaign were preparing a vehicle for a propaganda tour when some supporters of PA have arrived at the JVP office and JVP candidate comrade W. A. I. Samsil's house and forced the comrades to remove the flags and threatened them using fire arms. (weapons are identified as T-56) When the JVP comrades rejected obeying the PA supporters have taken comrade Samsil into one of their vehicles which was without a number plate and took him away. The abducted comrade was assaulted severely by the PA thugs.

The thugs came by six vehicles out of which three were without number plates. The have left the place after destroying the flags and other decorated preparations for the publicity campaign.

The vehicles those with number plates are:

Incident- 03

DATE: 30th OF DECEMBER 1998

TIME: 12.30pm

INCIDENT:

Two candidates for the Wayamba Provincial Council Polls, Mr. Ratnapulige Rajapakse and Miss Hemali Aberatne were traveling in a vehicle with other comrades of JVP when Puttlam district Member of Parliament D. M. Dasanayake of People's Alliance, stopped them by force. MP D. M. Dasanayake has assaulted comrade Rajapakes and threatened that he will not allow the JVP members to continue their political activities. He has also threatened the JVP members that they will be killed and burnt together with the vehicle. People's Alliance MP has threatened and insulted JVP candidate Miss Hemali Aberatne that her red dress will be torn away publicly. MP D. M.Dasanayake challenged the comrades to make a complaint to the Police and boasted that the Police is also following his commands.

The thugs have taken away the posters and destroyed the flags erected on the vehicle.

The MP and his thugs have come by four vehicles, three without number plates and a White Hiace 56-1272.
