Over one hour JVP demo in front of US embassy

People's Liberation Front organized a protest against the Yankee-NATO military actions against Yugoslavian people.

The protest held in front of the U.S. embassy in Colombo. The pictures show the events of the protest.

The Island May 14, 1999 reported:

"Over one hundred members of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) staged

a demonstration for one hour in front of the United States embassy in

Colombo yesterday carrying placards and shouting slogans protesting

against the US led NATO bombing of Yugoslavia. At the end of the

demonstration Vimal Weerawansa, the Propoganda Secretary of the JVP,

handed over a protest letter to the Emabassy office.


JVP condemns the attack on the Chinese Embassy in Yugoslavia and we

call on the US to stop bombarding an independent country on the issue of

Kosovo, the General Secretary of JVP, Tilvin Silva said. The Kosovo

matter is an internal issue and the present military offensive by the US

and NATO should stop, the JVP member said."
