AND THE WINNERS ARE:
VOODOO GLOW SKULLS-Frank Cassillas:vocals; Eddie Cassillas:guitar; Jorge Cassillas:bass; Jerry O'NeillL:drums; Joey Hernandez:sax; Joe McNally:trumpet; Brodie Johnsone:trombone.A band influenced ska & hip hop with a punk-rock background from Cali. Dudes, we met them at Warped tour and all I'm gonna say is RADMOBILE BABY. They are soooo frigin ILL. And I agree with Melissa that Voodoo Glowskulls is prolly the most memorable time from the almighty Warped Tour. It was 90 degrees and pourin down rain, we all there united by music and skankin' it was too sweet for words.
-Kings of Punk? YES. Fat Mike Still Fat? NO. Eric Melvin:guitar; Fat Mike(Mike Burkett):vocals; El Hefe(Aaron Abeyta):guitar/trumpet; Erik Ghint:drums. The L.A. band has been on the music scene since 84' and they are still going strong and hella loud. They made it here(kings of punk) by themselves, no thanx to Mtv, the Airwaves or anything kinda promo crap. "Nofx is a band, not just a song" they say.
RANCID-Formerly the late 80's Operation Ivy, the Frisco band conjoined and rejoined in 91' to be the band of hardcore punk and mohawks. Tim Armstrong:vocals/guitar; Matt Freeman:bass; Brett Reed:drums; Lars Fredriksen:guitar. And if ur one of those "gee that ruby soho song is really great" kinda people, please invite yurself to leve this page. There is much more to these guys than a song that was always played on the air. We were in line during they're show at Warped Tour but we could hear them fine and see them, just no pit.
HIGH-STANDARD-Three fareeky Japanese punks that know what to do. Akira Tsuneoko; Akihiro Neinka; Ken Yokoyama. Been goin since 91' and they good. I love their remake of "California Dream".
LAGWAGON-One rippin band from Santa Barabara,California and they seriosuly put it down. They're music is unique in a odd sense and I'm depressed I missed their show. Joey:vocals; Jesse:bass; Chris F.:guitar; Chris R.:guitar; Dave:drums.
H2O-These guys have the right idea. Some good ole New York or YAWK City hardcore. They gave a 10 minute lecture at Warped Tour on peace and how to love each other in today's society. The only people we are to beat the crap out of are those Nazi punks. After they're lecture they sang the great and ever popular "Nazi Punks Fuck Off" the crowd went wild, especially the young man sporting the t-shirt stating "NEO-NAZI" and a swastika tattoo on his skull. I think he had fun. :)
REVEREND HORTON HEAT-I saw these guys back in April at Metropol and at Warped Tour at I.C. Light Ampatheatre and as one guy said it and said it good "the godfathers of rockabilly". They sure as heck are! Man The Rev. Ripped! and thats the only red bass(not guitar) i've ever seen!
PIETASTERS-I wish they were at Warped Tour but they weren't, however i did see them with the Rev. back in April and they were deff!. This 3rd wave ska band from D.C. has been around since 90' and I love their music, its lite and great. Steve Jackson:vocals; Tom goodin:guitar; Todd Eckhart:bass; Bob Steward:drums; Toby Hansen:trumpet; Jeremy Roberts:trombone; Alan Makranczy:sax.
FRENZAL RHOMB-I never heard of these guys till Warped Tour, but I'm glad I saw them live cuz for an Aussie punk-rock band, lets just say. WICKED. I was totally trippin after we saw them play. Lots of energy lots of bit green dreads. great stuff. oh and they owe their success in the U.S. to Fat Mike(from NOFX) cuz he intro'ed them here.
