---- To enter the 64 Fair first one would walk along a wide, wide walkway a bit up in the air to where a long row of turnstiles blocked it. $2 adults, $1 children. One passed over the Long Island Railroad tracks below. It got wider over the tracks where the turnstiles were. Then there was a ramp down with two sidewalk extensions to the sides from which one could look down on people. (The wide walkway divided into three). At the bottom of the ramp were bathrooms on either side and under the walks that ended above. The open area was called Gotham Plaza. Right in front one would see the RCA pavilion. Directly lefet and right was New York Avenue. To the right front was Ave of the Americas. To left front the widest of them: Avenue of Commerce. Going down the Ave of Commerce were the Mormon Church,Left, which had a huge model, but smaller version bldg, of their big cathedral in Utah. On right, past RCA was the 'World Fair Pavilion'. After the Mormon Church was the FESTIVAL OF GAS which was on the corner of Ave. Commerce and the Avenue of Progress which went around the Pool of Industry in a big semicircle and back to the Ave Commerce. It was the OUTER road around the Pool. The FESTIVAL of GAS was where I recall they had the carousel and the pickle pins. On the right the World Fair Pavilion went up to the Court of the moon which was an extensio of the Ave of Progress. Across the street on the left was a park and on the right COCA COLA. Next on the left was IBM and on the right DuPONT. IBM was fronted by the Pool of Industry/ Fountain of the Planates, the biggest water body at the Fair. IBM had the big grandstand that seated a couple hunder people and rose into the IBM egg to see movies. It also had the computer to tell you what was the headline on your birthday and the Sherlock Holmes mechanical men on poles. NOw let's go around the Fountain of the Planets/pool of Industry: After IBM, Equitable Life Assurance, Park, Hall of Education, Travelers Insurance, Avenue of Research, The Bell System, Avenue of Discover, Liebmann Breweries, Scott Paper, Parker Pen, Clairol, General Electric, (Back to Avenue of Commerce) 7-28-99 254pm.....
