Advice

by Phyllis Beebe

Take time to look and see
The many shades and textures of the grass
And leaves as yearly seasons pass.
Forbear to scoff at me
Because I stand entranced
Beside a tree
Fingering its convoluted bark,
Or stooping, treasure some
Small blooming weed.
Or gulp great drafts of air
Enriched by nature's scents.
These small things feed my soul
A balm to soothe the pain
Of life's battering events.
They keep me whole
And cool my fevered brain.
Take time to look and see.
It may help you as it helps me.
