Wild Flowers

By Phyllis H. Beebe

Wildflowers grow by the roadside
Their beauty a feast for the eye.
Blue chicory
Lusty Goldenrod
Tall Queen Anne's Lace
Rank Cattails
Coy Buttercups
Bindweed's tiny white bells
Devil's Paintbrush, orange and red
Purple plumed Loosestrife
Banks of tangled pink Sweetpeas
Phlox nodding heavy heads of lavender and white
Creeping yellow Birdsfoot Trefoil

The TOWN
mows them down
