Now is the time to book this year's
cruise. As our current
allotment gets filled, I am able to reserve more staterooms
for our group. If it is done soon, I'll still get
our great rates.
Thanks to the many of you who have already booked!
Here's another quote from one of last year's cruisers:
"I was NOT allowed to make IRS, DEA,
and BATF agents
on the ship walk the plank. But our friendly gang of
Libertarians
PLUS an exciting and exotic vacation made the 1999 cruise
unforgettable."
- Michael Cloud
Thanks, Michael! A friendly gang
we were. It's been a
treat that so many repeaters are with us again this year.
For
everyone already booked, I'll be starting a preparation
email
update this month. With it, you'll be getting contact
information for all the others who have booked.
Be sure
you are on the list by booking this week.

QUESTION AND ANSWER:
I'd like to join
you on the THIRD ANNUAL LIBERTARIAN
CRUISE but I don't have a traveling
partner to share a stateroom.
What are my options?
Several of our cruisers each year make
a new friend by sharing
a stateroom. With your permission, I'll pass along
the email
addresses of those wishing to explore sharing a stateroom
to
all others in the same situation. If you communicate
among that
group, you may find someone with whom you'll choose to
share.
Because of our low group rates, a single person in a
stateroom
pays twice the double occupancy per person rate.
Please send me a message if you'd like
to consider sharing a
stateroom with one of our fellow libertarian passengers.
Several
others have already expressed an interest.
Now on to another "Day" of our virtual cruise.
DAY FOUR ON THE MS VEENDAM
On Wednesday morning we dock
at Georgetown, Grand
Cayman. Here we will play at one of the nicest
islands in the
Caribbean.
This charming British-influence island
offers everything from
an interesting island tour and the stingray observatory
to an
800-foot-dive aboard a research submarine. There
are many
spectacular reefs to observe by snorkel or scuba.
There are scuba lessons and certification
sessions in the ship's
pool prior to arriving at Cayman, if you're adventurous.
I've
been so impressed by the available sights by snorkeling,
that I've
never tried scuba. On one of our snorkeling excursions
we saw
a school of Caribbean Reef Squid, all swimming in a formation.
They looked stationary, poised vertically, as if
they were
spindles in a stair case. The colors of the reef
fish are splendid!
Of course, their are shops ashore.
Many nice china shops
can be found in the Caymans. Jewelry shops abound
on all
of the islands we cruise to. The duty free nature
of these
shops rewards those who find bargains on items charged
a
high duty when imported to the US. They best deals
tend to
be on liquor, fragrances, and china.
We'll be sailing again by 5 PM to reach
Jamaica by 8 AM
tomorrow. Once back aboard the MS
VEENDAM, there's
time for a scrabble game in one of the many gorgeous
sitting
areas. The library is open as well. As we
sail away from the
Cayman Islands, you might even find me taking a brisk
walk
on the ship's walking/jogging track on the Sports Deck.
When
there are such sights to be seen, I can even convince
myself that
I enjoy exercise!
Of course, by the time our dining hour
arrives, I'm eager to
indulge in the wonderful cuisine of the day. After
dinner, I'll
choose either the stage show or the casino before heading
to
bed. By this midway point of the cruise, I'm usually
feeling no
pressure to "do it all". Too much partying every
night is just too
much for these old bones. Besides, there's a great
deal of fun to
be had in Jamaica tomorrow! I'll skip the midnight
buffet tonight.
Till next time,
Ken
