Chapter 19
With Elizabeth being gone Jason was in constant search of something to occupy his time. As much as he loved New Mexico and their quiet serene existence from time to time it did get to him and unfortunately now was one of those times. After putting Elena to sleep Jason sat on the back contemplating what he could do to make Elizabeth’s departure go faster. The ringing of his cell phone interrupted his thoughts and Jason quickly answered it.
Jason- Morgan...
Sonny- Jason it’s Sonny...
Jason- What’s up?
Sonny- I don’t want to put this in your lap but...
Jason- Sonny what is it? Something has to be up for you to be calling me on my cell phone.
Sonny- Your phone could be tapped or...
Jason- Sonny what is it?
Sonny- [sighing heavily] Sorel’s making a move…
Jason- What happened?
Sonny- From what I hear he and Carlos are at it again…
Jason- What’s going on?
Sonny- They’ve been seen in Puerto Rico together... meeting behind closed doors and…
Jason- And…
Sonny- They got to one of my men…
Jason- What do you want me to do?
Sonny- You may not safe there.
Jason- I can protect my family…
Sonny- I’m not saying you can’t but with Sorel...
Jason- Sorel is stupid… if he makes a move in my direction…
Sonny- But if he and Carlos are really working together you might not see it coming…
Jason- True… what do you think they are after this time...
Sonny- What they are always after...
Jason- Power and territory.
Sonny- Yeah...
Jason- What do you want me to do?
Sonny- I really didn’t want to do this...
Jason- But...
Sonny- But it might be best if you were back in Port Charles...
Jason- Port Charles huh?
Sonny- I know you need to talk to Elizabeth about this and tell her...
Jason- Elizabeth is not here...
Sonny- Where is she? I mean...
Jason- She’s in Port Charles now...
Sonny- Jason...
Jason- Sonny I don’t like it either but she stressed her need to see Gia and...
Sonny- If Sorel is on the move it’s not safe for her to be alone.
Jason- I know…
Sonny- I can put someone on her until...
Jason- Someone already is… How soon do you need me?
Sonny- As soon as you can get here...
Jason- I understand...
Sonny- Jason the last thing I want to do is put you and your family in the middle of a war…
Jason- Sonny I told you… you are my family too and if you ever needed me...
Sonny- I know…
Jason- Elena and I will be there by the end of tomorrow.
Sonny- What about your house and…
Jason- I’ll pack what we need and I’ll someone for the rest.
Sonny- How long do you plan on staying?
Jason- As long as it takes…
Sonny- Jason if this is too much…
Jason- Sonny you need me… I’m coming.
Sonny- It might be best if you lay low for a while before…
Jason- I have nothing to hide.
Sonny- I’m not saying that you do but I want you to be safe until…
Jason- Sonny I have a daughter now… I can’t hide her from the world in fear that something will happen to her or me.
Sonny- I know…
Jason- Besides knowing Elizabeth she won’t want us to hide away either.
Sonny- Maybe you should really think about this before…
Jason- Sonny you need me… that’s good enough…
Sonny- Jason…
Jason- Let me worry about this… you have enough on your plate as it…
Sonny- Fine…
Jason- After I speak with Elizabeth Elena and I will be on our way.
Sonny- I’ll be expecting you by tomorrow night at the latest…
Jason- Fine…
Sonny- Be safe…
Jason- [as he hung up] I always am.
Looking in on a sleeping Elena Jason wondered what exactly he was getting his family involved in. More than Sorel he also had the Quartermaines to worry about as well as Lucky. Even despite all the time that had passed Jason still remembered Lucky’s threats about destroying Elizabeth and everything she held dear one by one. Lightly kissing Elena as she slept Jason vowed that if it took his life he would do everything within his power to protect Elizabeth, Elena, and their family. Moving out the room Jason packed the necessary things they would need during their trip to Port Charles and went about putting the house in order when he sent someone for the rest of their things. Looking at a family portrait of he, Elena, Elizabeth Jason sighed praying he was doing the right thing.
Chapter 20
As the smells from the kitchen greeted her nose Elizabeth smiled waking finally from her sleep. Looking around the guestroom Elizabeth thought back to Nikolas’s expression when they again came face to face. Although she and Gia had remained in contact Elizabeth had not realized how much she had missed Nikolas until she saw him. To hear his laughter and to see his smile gave Elizabeth a feeling she had not experienced in a while… she felt at home. As much as she loved Jason and as happy as they were as a family sometimes Elizabeth found herself missing Port Charles and the friends she left behind. Shaking those thoughts from her head Elizabeth rose quickly going to the shower ready to join Nikolas and Gia for breakfast. As she was ready to step into the steaming water Elizabeth heard the ringing of her cell phone and immediately knew something had changed.
Liz- [rushing to the phone only a towel wrapped around her] Jason…
Jason- [softly] Yeah Elizabeth it’s me…
Liz- [quickly] What’s wrong?
Jason- Nothing…
Liz- Something has to be wrong Jason… or else you wouldn’t be calling me this early in the morning.
Jason- I miss you…
Liz- I miss you too…
Jason- [sighing] That’s good…
Liz- What is it Jason?
Jason- I talked to Sonny…
Liz- And?
Jason- I’m coming to Port Charles…
Liz- Port Charles… Jason what’s going on?
Jason- Nothing… I just think…
Liz- Jason you can tell me if something has happened… I will understand…
Jason- There’s nothing for you to understand… Sonny needs me and…
Liz- [softly] Does this have to do with Sorel…
Jason- Elizabeth…
Liz- I know I shouldn’t have asked but…
Jason- I told Sonny if he ever needed me I would be there…
Liz- [softly] What about me and Elena?
Jason- I want you with me…
Liz- [softly] Ok…
Jason- [softly] Elizabeth I wish I could tell you something but…
Liz- [sighing] How soon will you be here?
Jason- By this afternoon…
Liz- What about our house and…
Jason- I packed everything need for right now and I’m bringing it with me… we can send for the rest…
Liz- Where are we going to stay or…
Jason- Sonny’s working on that now… he’ll find us an apartment…
Liz- [softly] An apartment…
Jason- For now… when I get there we’ll go about finding a house…
Liz- How long are we going to be here?
Jason- For as long as Sonny needs me…
Liz- [sighing] I understand…
Jason- I know this is not how you wanted to return to Port Charles but…
Liz- [softly] Sonny needs you…
Jason- I’m not going to let anything happen to you or Elena…
Liz- [softly] I know…
Jason- Sorel… Lucky… whoever… nothing will touch you two…
Liz- I’m not worried about Lucky…
Jason- You don’t have to be…
Liz- [softly] You’re going to safe aren’t you?
Jason- Yes…
Liz- Jason I don’t want to lose you…
Jason- [softly] I’m not going anywhere…
Liz- I love you Jason…
Jason- I love you too Elizabeth…
Liz- What do you want me to do?
Jason- Nothing…
Liz- How will I know you are here? When are we…
Jason- I’ll come to the cottage for you…
Liz- Can I tell Gia and Nikolas we’re moving back to Port Charles?
Jason- Elizabeth…
Liz- They won’t tell anyone...
Jason- [softly] I know…
Liz- Can I tell them? [hearing his sigh] that’s ok… I won’t say anything…
Jason- You can tell them Elizabeth…
Liz- I…
Jason- Tell them Elizabeth… we don’t have to hide or stay hidden…
Liz- But…
Jason- We’re returning because we missed our friends… we’re returning because we wanted to be near to our families… tell them whatever you think need to…
Liz- [nodding] Ok…
Jason- I’ll call you when I get there…
Liz- Ok… my phone will be on…
Jason- I know…
Liz- [hearing the water from the shower] Damn it…
Jason- What is it?
Liz- I left the shower on and…
Jason- Well I’ll let you go and get in the shower…
Liz- But…
Jason- I’ll call you…
Liz- [softly] Jason…
Jason- Everything will be fine…
Liz- I love you Jason…
Jason- And I love you… [after a few seconds] I’ll see you soon…
Liz- [nodding] Ok…
Hanging up from Jason Elizabeth sat for a while thinking what them returning to Port Charles would bring. She was happy with Jason and nothing anyone said or did would change that. But knowing all of that Elizabeth still wondered what other’s reactions to them would be. Sighing realizing her earlier thoughts had come to be and finally she was returning home for good Elizabeth quickly took her shower ready and needing to tell Nikolas and Gia her news. Coming down the stairs Elizabeth could not help but smile seeing Nikolas fretting over Gia making sure she was eating everything on her plate.
Gia- Nikolas I know what I doing…
Nikolas- But we have to make sure the baby is getting enough and…
Gia- I know and…
Nikolas- [smiling] Gia… just eat one more bite for me please…
Gia- Nikolas…
Nikolas- [smiling as he gently touched her face] Come on Sparky…
Gia- [frowning] You better be glad I love you…
Nikolas- [smiling] I am…
Liz- [smiling as she walked over to them] You better get used to this… you have seven more months of this…
Gia- Don’t remind me… [smiling] is he going to lighten up some?
Liz/Nikolas- [in unison] No…
Gia- [laughing] I didn’t think so… [looking at Elizabeth] you look happy… you must have talked to Jason…
Liz- [smiling] I did and I have some good news…
Nikolas- [loading up Gia’s fork with more food] What?
Liz- We’re moving back…
Nikolas- Moving back where?
Liz- [laughing] Port Charles…
Gia- [quickly rising going to Elizabeth] Are you serious?
Liz- [nodding] Yep…
Gia- [quickly hugging her] Oh my God… when…
Liz- [smiling] Today… he and Elena are on their way as we speak…
Nikolas- [softly] Everything’s ok right?
Liz- [nodding] Everything is fine… [lying] we had been talking about this for some time now and I guess me being away finally convinced him…
Gia- [quickly hugging her again] I don’t care what convinced him… you’re back now…
Liz- [smiling] You finally get to meet Elena…
Gia- [smiling] That’s right… I get to see my godchild…
Liz- And I get to be here when mine is born…
Nikolas- [smiling] That’s right… speaking out which… [lifting her food laden fork] Gia…
Laughing Gia and Elizabeth slowly returned to the table eating breakfast and laughing about all the things they could do together now that Elizabeth, Elena, and Jason was moving back to Port Charles.
