| About a mile on up past Bennetville, we got to the point where to go any further would have been all walking on snow. So we climbed up the wall of the canyon onto a big grassy ledge and took a break. |

| It was really beautiful -- in one direction you were looking back down the canyon (see above), over the top of Fantail Lake, at Tioga Peak and Mt. Gibbs and Mt. Dana. In the other direction (see below) you were looking up toward Saddlebag Lake and Lundy Canyon and Mt. Conness. |

![]() Scotty watching Dana | On the way back we walked along the ridge that made up one side of the canyon. There were lots of wildflowers blooming, and in particular one little type of low growing pink flower that was really fragrant. | ![]() ?Dana plateau | |
