The Road to North Lake
We cross Bishop Creek as we leave the good road and head up to North Lake
Looking east towards Bishop, you can see the paved road on the right side of the canyon
Our car is parked where the dirt road goes around the corner
Just past North Lake, is the trail head parking.
Piute Pass was the route of one of the proposed trans-sierrian highways,
connecting Bishop hwy 168 with Fresno/Huntington Lake hwy 168.
The Hike to Grass Lake
We walked up the closed summer campground road to where the trails split.
It is a long way to Fresno, so we took the trial to Lamark Lakes.
When given the choice ..., we went to Grass Lake, it was closer.
Grass Lake
As is often the case when hiking with us,
the sunset was beautiful from the point where we turned around to head back.
