Little child, so meek and mild,
Happy with a smile,
Mom and dad they tell the boy,
"Go and play awhile",
Little child lets out a laugh,
And refuses to obey,
That little one, so innocent,
Decides here is where he'll stay,
But he soon begins to realize,
Something's wrong with mom and dad,
Not really sure what's going on,
He just knows that they are mad,
Soon their anger rises up,
They begin to yell and shout,
They say things like, "You don't love me,
Pack your things; get out!",
It goes on like this for a time,
But then their anger shifts,
And now towards their little boy,
Is where their anger drifts,
They yell and scream at the child,
But he doesn't understand,
And then he really get's confused,
When he sees a hand,
It comes at him; unexpected,
And slaps him in the face,
Now that child feels so alone,
And so out of place,
'Cause the ones he thought that he could trust,
To love and protect him,
Have turned against this little one,
"What is wrong with them"?,
He tells them he is sorry,
For what? He does not know,
But they continue to hurt him,
Their anger seems to grow,
He sits there; he is very scared,
He covers up his eyes,
They don't even seem to care,
They ignore his cries.
He wonders why they hurt him so,
He is so meek and mild,
He didn't do a thing to them,
He's just a helpless child.
