You and I
We watch as a storm approaches.
Moving closer and closer until it is overhead.
We become fascinated as the lightning strikes close in
a romantic glow
and the thunder rumbles a natural tempo.
We hear the wind whispering a song and the rain as it
becomes an earthly melody.
It calls to us:
So hand in hand we step out and succumb to it's
rhythm:
We begin to dance-
A slow dance amidst nature's tumultuous display.
Close to each other.
Our bodies move with the harmony of the storm;
We are transfixed by it
and by each other.
We stare into each other's eyes as we dance and know
that in us there is a force more powerful than the
storm.
It's presence unmistakable as we both dance
together.
It's essence flowing through us; from us; from our
hearts.
Comforting us and giving us both a peaceful calm in the
storm;
Making us both smile because we know that it's
something that only we can share.
And, to you, in the storm I give it's eternal vow:
As in a barely audible voice I whisper it into your
ear.
Then, even in the wind and rain, I see tears of
happiness well up in your eyes because you feel it's
pleasant touch upon your heart.
And moments later you kiss me and reveal it's mystery
as you speak aloud the words we've needed to hear for
so long: "I love you".
