Red is one of my favorite colours. Red reminds me of love. People

often send hearts to each other on valentines day, and most of the

hearts are red.

The Bible tells us in 1 John 4:8 that "God is love". Because God loves

us SOOO much, He sent His only Son Jesus down to earth. God put Jesus

into Mary's womb, and He was born and grew up just like you and me.

But one thing was very different about Jesus : He NEVER sinned.

Jesus never did ANYTHING wrong. He never told a lie, He never

disobeyed His mom & dad, He never faught or hit anyone... He was

perfect.

The punishment of sin is death. But because Jesus was perfect, He

didn't have to be punished. But the Bible tells us that Jesus loved

people like you and me so much, that He chose to take our punishment

for us.

Some men took Jesus and nailed Him to a cross. They whipped him,

and beat Him, they ripped the beard from His face, they put nails

into his feet, and into his hands. Then they put a crown of THORNS

onto His head.

But Jesus didn't have to stay on that cross. Because He was God, the

Bible tells us that He could have called TEN THOUSAND angels, and they

would have taken Him off that cross in a flash. He could have taken

himself off... but He chose to stay, and He chose to die, because He

loves you and me. He died the punishment of death that you and I should have died.

JOHN 3 :16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only

son, so that whosoever believes in Him, should not perish but have

everlasting life."

But don't be sad! The story doesn't end here! You see, Jesus had told his

followers that three days after He would die, He would come alive again - and He did!

This showed that He was God, and that He had the power over death. Now, because Jesus took the punishment

and He lives, anyone who believes in Him, that He took their place, will have everlasting life!
