What is a critique?

A critique is a critical review of a work of art or literature. In this case it is literature. In a critique you tell the author what you do and do not like about their piece of writing. That does not mean you simply say "I like it," "It's nice," or "I hated it." You may say any of those phrases, but you MUST expand on that and back it up. Describe specific parts of the writing you like or dislike, and make suggestions for the parts you think need work. Learning how to critique well takes time and practice, and it's good to look at other's critiques to get a better idea of what they should be like. That is why I have included open critiques on my page.
