I watch you anchor
Your calm indifference down with silence
Pretending not to notice me
Standing orthodox in
The background
Mutilated by fidelity, and lack of

While mermaids lather in manipulation
Swimming in their own
Loss of innocence
Swimming in their own blood

Other tongues have
Found silent screams lying
Harbored in this mouth
And other eyes
Have cried

Boil meaning down to a simmer
Chocolate into blood

Delicate crystal visions are busy being
Shattered by a shrieking symphony of
Vain idols falling
No longer bronze colored
More a raw kind of red
Like the shame that follows summer's ugly truths
While we say our awkward goodbyes

I need enamel to
Cover these wounds;
Sandpaper to
Smooth them down
But they only urge my anger
Farther until it
Scrapes my hallow bones

Poetically waxing screams into symphonies
We let storms brew inside us
And crawl out of our eyes

Smear eternity into
A blur in a blank book
Using your subtle evil
To leave papercuts on my dreams
By twisting my own tangled words

Beneath your quiet death
And my buried whispers
There is a need
To be held again

Rose petals flooded my room today
And the moon won't shine through the crimson
But after all
You are only shadow
