While academics are Robert E. Lee High
School's main focus, student athletics and activities provide an equally rich and rewarding opportunity. through sports, students learn about life, competition, team work, and playing by the rules.
Thirty-five percent of Lee High School's approximately 1,800 students participate in one or more of Lee's 22 varsity team sports and competitive team activities. Lancer athletic teams are the
most visible and public representatives of Lee High School, its students, and the surrounding community. Lee High School's Athletic Booster Club provides financial support to Lee's sports and
activity programs. The Boosters raise some $20,000 each year through membership dues, concession sales, and special events. Yet, less than half of all families with students in sports actually join the Athletic Booster
Club. All membership dues go toward Lee High School's athletic and scholarship recognition programs, and the athletics ands activity budget. The Booster Club works in close coordination with
the Director of Student Activities to help meet needs of the School such as new gymnasium chairs, new warm-ups, and helping with upkeep of fields and team equipment. |
