Boys Basketball
Freshman leads Lee
From Staff Reports
A near perfect performance by freshman wing Chris Goodin helped Lee extend its winning streak to 15 games with a 78 – 68 win at home over Robinson in the first round of the Northern Region boys basketball tournament.
Goodin hit all nine of his field-goals attempts and four of five foul shots. He finished with 25 points and shared game-high scoring honors with senior teammate Val Brown.
Brown hit his first two three-point attempts before missing four of his final 15 shots. He hit all 11 of his foul shots.
Goodin, meanwhile, was unflappable, until missing a free throw with 33 seconds left in the contest. He hit three three-pointers and had eight points in the fourth quarter.
The Lancers (18-5) were without junior Mark Davis, who was not on the bench and whose name did not appear in the scorebook.
School officials yesterday said Davis has not been enrolled at Lee since February 17. He did not play in the Lancers' two games thereafter – Liberty District wins over Marshall and Fairfax.
"He's not on the team," Lee activities director Gloria Green said last night. "[Fairfax County Schools'] Area I is looking into now. It has nothing to do with activities or athletics."
Davis appeared in 18 regular-season games and was the team's leading scorer.
