Dachau, Germany
1945

This was the communications quarters. It housed the Wire Chief, the Radio Chief, the Message Center Chief and the Communications Chief (my self). To the left barely visable is one of the 120 foot poles for the the antenna. The other one was mounted on top of the camp administration building on the roof. It went through the roof and was anchored inside on the third floor. The poles supported a half wave dipole for ten meters. Broadside to the U.S.A. I made quite a few contacts on ten meters back home. Including W8AHV, Paul Baurle in my home town. Lansing, Michigan.
