AS I THINK BACK AND TRY TO REMEMBER WHEN I FIRST
HEARD CHRIS ISAAK I CAN NOT REMEMBER. WHAT I DO
REMEMBER, IS HIS MUSIC IN THE SOUNDTRACK OF THE MOVIE
'WILD AT HEART'. THAT LEFT A HUGE IMPRESSSION UPON ME
AND THE MUSIC FIT THE MOVIE SO WELL!
IT IS A REALLY FUN, WACKY, STRANGE MOVIE!
6-1-98 I NEVER TIRE OF LISTENING TO CHRIS ISAAK. HIS
VOICE IS SO GOOD! I HAVE ALL THE ISAAK CD'S AND AM
ANXIOUSLY AWAITING THE RELEASE OF THE NEWEST ONE THIS SUMMER. AT THIS TIME, BAJA SESSIONS IS THE NEWEST CD.
10-06-98 CHRIS HAS THE NEW CD OUT. IT IS CALLED
SPEAK OF THE DEVIL. IT HAS A SURF MUSIC GUITAR RIFF
THAT I LIKE. GO TO THE CD NOW LINK TO BUY OR LISTEN
TO CHRIS ISAAK'S MUSIC. THIS CD IS VERY DIFFERENT
FROM HIS OTHER MUSIC. HE HAS A LOUDER, MORE ELECTRIC
SOUND THEN USUAL.

I HAVE GOTTEN SOME E-MAIL FROM FANS WHO SAW CHRIS IN
CONCERT LAST FALL. THEY ENJOYED IT AND SAID HE IS THE
NICEST MUSIC ACT THEY HAVE EVER SEEN. HE STAYED AFTER
THE SHOWS AND SIGNED AUTOGRAPHS FOR EVERYONE AND
TALKED TO THEM. I HAVE READ IN INTERVIEWS THAT HE
LOVES MUSIC AND WILL PLAY ALMOST ANY VENUE HE IS
ASKED TO PLAY.

CHRIS ISAAK Biography- He was born on June 26, 1956,
in Stockton, California. He is from a blue collar
family, a son of a forklift operator. He was a radio
lover and had his whole backyard wired to get radio
stations from all over the U.S. and Canada. He used
to lay in bed most of the night and listen to music.
He loved all kinds. He and his brother used to sing
ballads to their mom.
He went to college at the University of the Pacific,
studying english, film making and journalism. He
graduated in 1980. He says he got into music, while
in Japan for a semester, when he heard an Elvis
record and got it stuck in his head, so sang it again
and again. His neighbor lady told him he should be a
singer. He was also an amateur boxer in college.
He was influenced by Elvis and Roy Orbison, in his
early recordings.
He moved to San Francisco after graduation and later
formed a band, the Silvertones. They started at the
bottom, playing in bars and nightclubs in the Bay
Area. (He also became a surfer). He is influenced by
jazz and rockabilly, especially the old Sun Records
guys. He says, "I'm always going to make records
where the emphasis is on a good song with the voice
out front."
"Those ideas get stuck in my head and the only way I
can say 'em is in music. The way I write, I sit down
with a guitar, and usually it's in the dark, and I
just start singing like I'm talking to myself. It all
comes out at one time, the melody and the words."
"I'd never give up music, because I like to sing more
than anything. More than anything. People always ask
me, 'What do you do on your time off?' I tell 'em I
sing, 'cause that's what I like to do. Call me a
one-dimensional shallow person, but if I got time
off, I grab my guitar and play some more."

I have added 2 interviews with Chris Issak to the
links (the last 2 links). Many people write to me to
ask if I have more information on Chris. I like these
interviews and think they give a good idea of the
type of person he is.
I read that Chris has been signed, by David Lynch, to
star in the sequel to WILD AT HEART. He will play
Sailor, which was played by Nick Cage in the first
movie.

PEOPLE MAGAZINE (PG 137) HAS A SHORT PIECE ON CHRIS.
IT HAS A PIC OF HIM IN HIS HOME, IN SAN FRANCISCO. HE
HAS THE GOODWILL FURNITURE THAT HIS MOM PICKED UP FOR
HIM WHEN HE BOUGHT THE HOUSE 10 YRS AGO. HE BROUGHT
ALL OF HIS STUFF FROM HIS ROOM AT HOME WHEN HE WAS A
KID AND RECREATED IT IN HIS BEDROOM, EVEN THE WALL
PANALING AND LIGHTS.

On our Christmas Road Trip, we drove thru Stockton,
CA on Dec 24. I always think of Chris Isaak when I go
thru there, so my husband bought the local newpaper,
the Stockton Record, which was advertising having all
kinds of articles about him.
Well they lived up to their ad!! The Time Out section
has all kinds of info on him. I wanted to do a direct
link to it, but haven't been able to find it online,
so I will just include some info. The articles are by
Tony Sauro. These quotes are from the one titled
"HOME IS NEVER FAR AWAY"
"And I have to say, quite honestly, that almost
everything that I write I probably was thinking of
Stockton a lot....
It goes back to, like, me and my parents and my
brothers and my friends. It's like the strength of
those feelings. You can be in Paris or someplace else
that's pretty, but they don't have that connection
that's strong. I don't know what it is. It's just
because you grew up there....
I like my hometown, I don't think I want to forget
that's where I came from....
I liked a lot of things about growing up in this
town. You can park where you wanted to. I could get
to the movies and know people. The places I'd go and
eat and stuff I knew people. After being here a
couple of generations, you start to have connections
every place."
He says about going to the University of the Pacific, "I'd try to dress nice in the early days to make an
impression. I was hoping to get it into their minds I was one of them. But after three days, I was back to
drape suits and my hair was greasy. They weren't used
to it. Everybody else wore brown and I was wearing
pink and lime. I just let my freak side fly...."

I went to a free Chris Isaak concert tonight to celebrate the opening of the Giants new baseball park. He was so great! The music was the best, Chris was so funny; he had me cracking up, lol. This is the first time I have seen him live and it was really fun. He stayed after to sign autographs, so I bought a tee shirt and got it signed.

(From the San Francisco Chronicle)
"As soon as he wraps production on The Chris Isaak Show, the rocker will head to the studio to record his next CD.
"I've recorded a bunch of demo tracks and have a lot of songs ready," says Isaak, adding that the new album "will be rock 'n roll straight ahead". He quips, " Rock n roll is such a big open field to play in.... I'll be ripping everybody again."
Isaak only has a couple more episodes to shoot of the 17 segments of his series ordered by Showtime. The show, which premieres March 12, takes a behind the scenes look at Isaak's life, and each episode features live performances...."

I've really been enjoying the Chris Isaak Show! It's really funny, witty, and has great music! It is not for kids though; definitely it is adult entertainment. Chris uses his real life for the basis of the show, so many of the things are like him in real life.
A few people have emailed me and asked if Anson is really a part of the band; he isn't. The rest of the band members are the real ones, but Anson is an actor, playing a band member. The lady who played Chris' Mom in episode 1 is really his Mom.
Many of the live music scenes were shot last summer in San Francisco.
Bimbo's 365 Club, 1025 Columbus Ave, is a real San Francisco club and does have a lady in a fishbowl. Chris Isaak has played there in the annual fundraiser for an Oakland, CA teen drug treatment program called Thunder Road.
Nightbreak, at 182 Haight St, is another San Francisco club that Chris has played at. He played there after his debut album, in 1985, and to try out material for his second and third albums.

Star of the Show Explains Everything
"I'm just trying to be entertaining. It's kind of a cross between bowling and mud wrestling, with an occasional reference to Spinoza thrown in. . . . It combines music, nudity and snappy repartee. The only other place people can see that kind of stuff is when Congress is in session."
Chris Isaak describes "The Chris Isaak Show" in Elle magazine.
