COSTA RICA ZEBRA TARANTULA

This large spider reaches to a leg span of 5 inches. The above picture is taken from Anansis's webpage. It is a terrestrail species, found in the grasslands of Costa Rica and Panama. It is attractivelt coloured, with a glossy back background with tan strips alomg the legs. It is also sold as ' striped knee tarantula'. A.Seemani is a rather hardy spider, and can easily thrive in captivity if provided with proper facilities. It is a burrower and needs to be given a soft deep subsrate for digging. The Costa Rica Zebra tarantula has a short life span--- males seldom live more than 3 years and females can reach up to 15 years of age.

Although the spider is a hardy one, it is rather nervous and can move very fast. So care must be taken when handling them.
